WSU Upset Arizona and Mariners Add Outfielder

The Washington  State  Cougars  beat
Arizona 74-61 on the road. It was the
biggest win for the Cougars  since 1983.
They beat UCLA  at home back then.

The Cougars are playing very good  ball
now though they lost to Arizona  State
on Thursday. Arizona was ranked #5 in
the country  so the biggest seed since
UCLA  they have beaten. Also, this ended
a 28 game winning streak at home for
Arizona.

The Cougars had four players  score in
double figures led by Mouhamed Gueye
with 24 points. Also  he had 14 rebounds.
He averages 14 points and 8.8 rebounds
a game as a sophomore.

The Cougars will be home on Wednesday
to take on the California  Golden Bears.
California  isn't  good team having a
2-3 record in conference while 3-13 overall
on the season.

The Seattle  Mariners  are reported  to  be
signing veteran outfielder  AJ Pollock to a
one year contract.  Last season Pollock
played for the Chicago White Sox where
he averaged .245 and had 14 home runs.
Pollock is expected to platoon  with Jarred
Kelenic in left field going against left handed
pitching. Can see him be at dh at times as well.
The Mariners  don't  have  a  dh at this time.
The spot will be taken up by several  different
players.

The Mariners  will likely  sign or trade for an
infielder who can spell Ty France at first base
and Eugenio  Suarez at third. This player could
dh as well.  This means at this time Dylan Moore
will likely  platoon at second  base and give JP
Crawford a day off on occasion at shortstop.
Spring  training is  a out six weeks  away. Go M's.
