mark however 65 games mean there is
40 percent remaining on the season so
close but not half.
The Seattle Mariners have a 48-49 record.
Most of the season have led the American
League West however right now a game
and a half behind the Texas Rangers.
The Mariners start on Friday with three
games against the San Francisco Giants
and then three more against the Cincinnati
Reds all at home. On July 24 they start
a series on the road at Texas against the
Rangers. The Mariners last road trip was
1-5 and they must do better next time
and have a good home stand too.
The trading deadline ends in Early August
this time. The Mariners best effort in
my opinion anyway is pick up at least
a reliever. As far as the bullpen goes been
difficult when Matt Brash went on injured
list on June 10th the day after Cooper
Criswell. Both were critical to lose but
Matt Brash was one of four high leverage
relievers. Also the fact the Mariners are
going with six starters has made it difficult
to say the least.
The Mariners really need to go back to
five starters or see us count on the piggy
back with one starting and going five
innings while the other goes four. The
most recent was to be Logan Gilbert
and Emerson Hancock however the last
two times out they decided to scrap it
and have each pitch as a starter. It
turned out both of Logan's starts were
losses. The last start heading into the
break Hancock was hit and had to be
taken out in the second inning. Fortunately
the bullpen did a good job.
During this time the offense has struggled
to especially against left handed pitching.
Rob Refsynder hasn't been the right handed
the Mariners thought they were getting.
He eventually went on the injured list and we
will see if he is activated on Friday. The M's
brass still believe they need to get a bat.
Whether the Mariners get a bat or not the
offense has to do a much better job to expect
to win.
Brendan Donovan has just gone a rehab
assignment however how much time that
will be we will see. Also how healthy Julio
Rodriguez will be. The Mariners will need
to see a better Cal Raleigh too. Randy
Arozarena and Cole Young have been the
best part of the offense. The rest of them
must do better. We could say the same
the coaching and defense as well can improve.
The starters do what they have and what
other decisions are made the Mariners still
go to the playoffs however it is still up to
them. Go M's.
