Thursday night the Seattle Mariners won
7-3 in ten innings. They had only three hitsin the game, however, they did count as you
can see by the score.
The Red Sox scored first in the second
inning on a home run off of Justin Dunn.
They scored another run in the fourth
inning. Dunn who played his college
ball at Boston College made his first
appearance in Fenway Park as a member
of the Mariners.
Dunn pitched in front of his family as
well going five innings giving up six
hits with the two runs. The best thing
though he only walked one batter while
striking out five. I will take this game
from Dunn every time out. He would
give the Mariners a chance to win.
The Red Sox were no-hitting the
Mariners going into the sixth inning.
After a walk to JP Crawford and
Mitch Haniger Ty France hit a
double to score both players to
tie the score at two.
The Red Sox scored a run in the
bottom of seventh, however, the
Mariners tied it in the top of the
eighth when Sam Haggerty pinch
running for catcher Luis Torrens
who had walked ended up stealing
second base. JP Crawford put down
a sacrifice bunt to move Haggerty
to third, however, Boston reliever
Adam Ottavino trying to get
Haggerty over threw third to
allowing him to score.
In the top of the 10th inning Sam
Haggerty who is hitting under
.200 hit a double to score Evan
White who was on second base
because of the extra inning rule.
With two runners on base Mitch
Haniger hit a three-run home run
to make it 7-3. The Red Sox were
unable to do anything off of reliever
Anthony Misiewicz who hasn't
given up a run in eight appearances.
Mitch Haniger hasn't missed a beat
after missing almost two years of
service with the Mariners because
of injuries. He now has five home
runs with seventeen rbi's along with
a .315 batting average. Not only
should be the winner of comeback
player of the year he will be an
all-star if he keeps doing the same
in May and June as he has done
in April.
Yusei Kikuchi takes the mound on
Friday night. The way he has been
pitching as of late the Mariners will
have another chance to win. Chris
Flexen is scheduled to pitch Saturday
afternoon for the Mariners. Go M's.
