Mariners Beat Sox Saturday

The Seattle Mariners and the Boston
Red Sox had early afternoon game at
Fenway Park on Saturday.

The Mariners won the game handily
8-2. It was a good offensive explosion
especially with three hits by Ty France,
Kyle Seager and Sam Haggerty along
with a couple hits by Evan White.

Kyle Seager had a chance to hit for
the cycle but didn't make it.  Seager
scored twice as well as driving in
three runs for the second straight
game. Right now he is hot against
the Red Sox.

Ty France scored three times primarily
with Seager being ahead of him in
the lineup. Seager had a single, double
and triple in the game so just needed
a home run.

Haggerty scored twice like Seager.
He had a massive home run over the
green monster wall in left field in
the eighth inning.

Chris Flexen pitched an outstanding
game for the Mariners giving up
four hits in seven innings and one
run. The run didn't happen until
the seventh inning. Flexen walked
only one while striking out seven.
He was mixing up his pitches which
the Red Sox hitters had a hard time
getting hold of. Now Flexen has an
ERA of 2.74 which is very good for
a starting pitcher.

Keynan Middleton came out and
pitched the 8th inning striking out
two of the three batters he faced.
Middleton only threw twelve
pitches with nine being strikes.

Will Vest who has pitches well
in most of his ten games gave up
one  run on two hits including a
double. It was only his second
run given up on the season so has
an era of 1.54. Not bad for a
pitcher who hasn't pitched in
the major leagues before this
season.

Nick Margevicius is schedule
to start Sunday's game in Boston.
The game most likely won't play
because there is over 90% chance
of rain. If this happens means the
Mariners will head to Houston for
Monday's game a bit early. Not
sure whether Margevicius will
start Monday's game in Houston
or the Mariners will him up in
the rotation. Stay tuned!

There likely won't be a blog
on Sunday after if the game
is not played. Remind you
the NFL draft will take place
starting on Thursday. The
Seahawks will probably not
have a pick on Thursday unless
they make a trade to pick up
a first rounder. For the Seahawks
Thursday maybe seeing the
San Francisco 49ers drafting
in the third spot unless they
make a trade to move out.

The draft we will see what
quarterbacks maybe taken
along with who the Seahawks
take on Friday and Saturday.
They have only three picks
unless they pick up any more.

It will be interesting to see
where Huskies may land in
the draft and see whether
any will be drafted from
WSU.  Also, whether any
Oregon Duck or OSU Beavers
have any players drafted.

This draft will be unusual because
some players who would have
been eligible for the draft stayed
in school for another year. The
NCAA allowed seniors to stay
another year because of Covid-19
restrictions. Those who stayed
may have not been drafted but
could have been signed as non-
drafted free agents. The ones
who decided to stay in school
will see if they can have a
better draft position next
year.
