Mariners Take Opening Series

Though a sweep is nice over the season
winning series as many as you can is
what baseball is about and that is what
the Seattle Mariners did Saturday night
beating the San Francisco Giants 4-0.

The Mariners finally able to have a
couple home runs with Ty France
getting the first one in the third inning.
Seattle scored two more runs in the
fourth inning followed by another
solo home run in the seven by Mitch
Haniger his first since 2019.

Chris Flexen had an outstanding start
in his first game with the Mariners and
the season. Flexen went five innings
giving up four hits, walked two while
striking out six. He threw 94 pitches,
being his first start he went the five
innings.

Kendall Graveman a former starter
making his first relief appearance of
the season went two innings. Graveman
was outstanding giving up no hits
and striking out five.

Lefty Anthony Misiewicz went two-thirds
of an inning giving up a couple hits. Closer
Rafael Montero came in to finish off the
eight and pitch the ninth as well. He looked
outstanding dominating the Giants though
he only struck out one. We see this Montero
most of the time closing games off the Mariners
are going to win a lot of games.

The Mariners have Easter off then take on
the Chicago White Sox  at home Monday
thru Wednesday. The White Sox are 1-2
and the Mariners hope to do the same in
this three game series as well. Justus
Sheffield will start the first game followed
by James Paxton and Justin Dunn.

On Thursday the Mariners go on their first
road trip of the season facing the Twins in
Minnesota. We hope they don't have any
contact with snow. This series will be three
games with a rare day off on Friday.

The third game against Wednesday will be
an afternoon affair starting at 1:10 pm. This
way they will be able to fly to Minnesota at
a reasonable hour.

The Mariners are hoping to have Kyle Lewis
back in the lineup when they go to Minnesota.
His replacement in center field Taylor Trammell
had his first hit in the fourth inning with a double
and driving in a run. Now he can relax with his
first major league hit under his belt. It would be
nice if he is still on the team when Kyle Lewis
is able to return.

Enjoy your Easter while there is no baseball you
can have fun with family and friends.
