Seahawks Win Mariners Lose

I am sure we are all familiar with the Seahawks winning a lot over the last decade while the Mariners lose.

The Mariners can learn a lot from the Seahawks on how to build a team especially since they are in rebuilding mode. The Mariners do have several prospects who do look like they will be superstars or at least quality players. Right now the pitching is awful for the most part.

Sunday the Seahawks ending up beating the Cincinnati Bengals 21-20. The Bengals actually outplayed the Seahawks. Like we here sometimes "it is better being lucky than good." This was the case on Sunday though the defense came through at the end of the game.

Former Husky wide receiver John Ross had a big day against the Seahawks scoring two touchdowns on seven receptions for 158 yards. The Seahawks defensive backs had a hard time keeping up with him. Also, on the television broadcast, it was mentioned several times where the Seahawks kept all three linebackers in the game on passing downs instead of bringing in an extra defensive back. They mostly spoke about Mychal Kendricks was exploited.

We have heard a lot about the Seahawks offensive line is one of the best if not the best in the NFL by left tackle Duane Brown. Sunday the offensive line looked like the one we have seen for several years where Russell Wilson had to run for his life. We hope they will improve over the weeks ahead.

I don't know whether it is practice time or early season woes, however, I always get tired how the Seahawks always get off to a terrible start every season. Often even throughout the season, they play better in the second half of a game than the first half. The only thing helps is they do make the playoffs on a regular basis. I heard booing throughout the game to from the stands and I don't blame them at all. At least they do improve otherwise it would be hard to continue watching this team.

Next week the Seahawks are in Pittsburgh to play the Steelers. It would be nice to beat up on them because of our experience in the Super Bowl against them when the officials did a terrible job. The Steelers though are not a very good team right now. They got off to a terrible start losing to the New England Patriots 33-3.

The Seattle Mariners can't beat the Houston Astros losing on Sunday 21-1. This was the second sweep this season in Houston. The Mariners have only beaten Houston once all year and have lost like 15 times.  Felix Hernandez lasted two innings plus giving up 11 runs. The bullpen obviously didn't do much better. The Mariners only run came on a home run by Shed Long which happened to be the only hit they mustered for the day. I wonder if they should start Felix again. Maybe wait until the final game of the season?

The Arkansas Travelers the Mariners double-A team lost in the playoffs in the final game of the series 5-1 on Sunday to Tulsa so their season is over. The Mariners will likely promote right-handed starter Justin Dunn and outfielder Kyle Lewis for sure. May here about a couple of players being brought up too.

The Mariners have 18 games remaining on the schedule. They play the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago White Sox this week beginning on Tuesday. They do have a good chance of winning all or most of these games. So come out and see these games as the season is coming to a close. Go M's.
