Mariners Even Series Against Rangers


The Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers on Thursday but followed by losing on Friday and Saturday; however, Sunday they beat the Rangers 11-3. The Mariners now go to Chicago take on the Cubs for two games before going back to Texas to take on the Astros in Houston for four games the returning home next week.

Yusei Kikuchi had a poor outing his last time; however, he went five innings Sunday going five innings giving up three runs. He gave up a run in the first and two in the third.

The Mariners got off to a fast start scoring four runs in the first inning. The Rangers scored a run in the bottom of the first. The Mariners scored two more runs in the third inning on two solo home runs by Tom Murphy and Daniel Vogelbach.

The Rangers scored two runs in the third inning making it 6-3. The Mariners pitching gave up no more runs covering six innings. The Mariners scored a run in the fifth inning then Kyle Seager blew the game open hitting a three-run homer to the upper deck to put the game out of reach. The Mariners scored one last run in the 9th inning.

Dan Altavilla, Austin Adams, and Brandon Brennan came off the injured list to pitch an inning of shutout ball along with Sam Tuivailala between Adams and Brennan. Braden Bishop coming off the injured list started in centerfield. The Mariners recalled Ryan Court from Tacoma.

Justus Sheffield and Felix Hernandez will start the two games against the Cubs. Go M’s.

In football, the Seahawks re-signed quarterback Geno Smith to be Wilson’s backup. Also, they signed six players to the practice squad. They are wide receivers Jazz Ferguson and Terry Wright along with Tight end Jacob Hollister, cornerback Simeon Thomas, guard Jordan Roos and tackle Elijah Nkansah. They can add four more players to the practice squad.  Go Hawks!
