Washington Huskies Upset Again and More

The Washington Huskies football game Saturday night ended up being delayed for more than two and a half hours because of lightning.  In the end, the California Golden Bears upset the Huskies for the second straight season. Also, end the Huskies home win streak of  15 going back to 2016. The final score was Cal 20 Washington 19. The Huskies play Hawaii next Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium. Neither quarterback could muster much of a passing game though they try. Both teams defense didn't play up to par probably because of the delay.

The Seattle Seahawks take on the Cincinnati Bengals at home Sunday afternoon to start the regular season. Rain is forecasted. I am sure everyone is hoping no lightning will happen at CenturyLink Field.

The Washington State Cougars had another lopsided victory as expected beating Northern Colorado at home 59-17. The Cougars now go to Houston, Texas next Friday night to face another Cougar team in the University of Houston. This should be a better match between two teams who both like throwing the ball.

In baseball, as no surprise, the Seattle Mariners lost to the Houston Astros on the road 2-1 in a pitching match between Yusei Kikuchi and Justin Verlander. The Mariners scored first in the third inning for their only one with Dee Gordon driving in Shed Long. Dee Gordon was the only one really able to have success off of Verlander who went seven innings. Verlander recorded the victory as the Astros scored a run in both the sixth and seventh innings. Austin Adams surrendered the run in the seventh inning to record the loss. The Mariners will look to see if they can salvage a win in this four-game series. Felix Hernandez starts for the Mariners against Gerrit Cole. Go M's.
