Matt Brash Only Human

Robbie Ray  went  three innings in his
second  outing of the spring.  He gave
up  one hit and a walk while striking
out five. We hope that Robbie could
be in the running for another Cy Young
award. If not him, the Mariners have
three other starters who could.

The Mariners  lost 5-3 Wednesday
against the Chicago Cubs. Matt
Brash who has maybe the best
slider in baseball  showed he is
human after all. He gave up all
five of the runs in the 4th  inning
after taking over for Ray. Don't
expect that during  the season
to come in the 4th or giving up
five runs. We will see how dominant
Brash will be during the season.

We hope to see more than once that
happened on Wednesday  was back to
back solo home runs by Julio Rodriguez
and Jarred Kelenic. The only other run
scored by the Mariners was number one
prospect Harry Ford  hit a double in the
8th inning scoring Cooper Hummel who
was the second  dh on the day. AJ Pollock
began the day as the dh. Pollock had
two hits on the day.

It looks like  Pollock is wanting to have a
good season this year. If Kelenic  have a
turn around and hit good we could see more
at dh. Kelenic  could play some right field
allowing  Teoscar Hernandez  do some dh
as well. This will depend  how healthy  the
outfield  stays this year.  The Mariners go
with another extra outfielder this will give
a lot of help in the lineup.

Again Sam Haggerty played second base
and had a  hit. Dylan Moore  not playing
yet it looks to give Haggerty more chance
at second base. Though Sam has been
a utility  player  during  his career until
last year he didn't  play any outfield. The
Mariners will have four bench players
besides  the second catcher.  You have
to figure Moore and Pollock counted
as two of the four. Haggerty gets the
third spot leaves one  other slot open.
With injuries  there is likely someone
who doesn't  open the season on the
roster will  be  there at some point.

Logan Gilbert expected  to  make his
first start of the spring  on Thursday
against the  San Diego  Padres. Let you
know how he does  and who else might
be a star of the game.

During the season  we will give summary
of the game along with who the best
pitcher of the game and position  player too.
Go M's.
