was canceled.
Marco Gonzales was expected to start
the game. George Kirby scheduled Thursday
will still start. The Mariners will take on
the San Francisco Giants. The Mariners
don't have anyone scheduled for Friday's
game yet. Marco could start or Luis Castillo.
Though Kirby is mentioned as the 4th starter
the rotation could still be Castillo, Robbie Ray,
Logan Gilbert, Marco and Kirby. Ray and Marco
both lefties break up the righties. Of course
Kirby and Castillo would go back to back.
Chris Flexen likely be the long man out of
the bullpen. May come in twice during the
first rotation for a couple innings depending
how the starters are doing. Penn Murfee
may be another one who goes more than
one inning as he did last season. Matt Festa
could as well. He pitched a couple innings
in a game for Italy in the WBC. The Mariners
we're not happy about that. Depending how
much the bullpen is being used we could see
see Matt Brash go over an inning as well since
he has been a starter. There is a chance he
won't go a full two innings depending on where
the opposition team's lineup is like.
The Mariners don't use the bullpen like many
other teams do. They don't have one pitcher
who is the closer. In previous seasons Paul
Sewald would face the top of the other teams
lineup from the seventh inning and on. In a way
he was the closer but not in the tradition way.
I could see Andre Munoz and Matt Brash facing
the middle of the order and Diego Castillo at
the bottom of the order. Depending how long
the starter goes Festa and Murfee could be in
the mix as well. Go M's
