eight teams in the NCAA men's basketball
tournament however Gonzaga is there
after beating UCLA 79-76.
It didn't look for sometime the Zags would
pull it out. UCLA was up by 13 at the end
of the first half.
UCLA went cold for a while putting the
Zags ahead. In fact Gonzaga was ahead
by ten around two minutes. UCLA did some
fouling letting the Zags not run down the clock.
UCLA were up by one with about ten seconds
when Julian Strawther hit a three pointer to
put the Zags up by two. He then stole a ball
and was fouled with 1.1 seconds remaining in
the game. UCLA tried to make a shot at the buzzer
but couldn't.
Julian Strawther had 16 points on the night but
his last four were the most important or they
would have gone home with a loss. Drew Timme
led the Zags with 36 points and 13 rebounds.
Now Gonzaga takes on University of Connecticut
on Saturday to see who goes to the final four
next week.
The Washington Huskies and Washington State
Cougars need to find a way to go to the tournament
more often. If Gonzaga can they should too.
Go Bulldogs!
