team lost to Stanford on the road
Saturday evening 90-80.
Not a big surprise as the Stanford
Cardinal are having a good season.
The loss to the Cougars Thursday
night the chances are they would
win this game. The Huskies beat
California Golden Bears Thursday
night by one night with Moses Wood
hitting a 3 pointer at the buzzer.
The score indicates the Huskies
offense did a good job however
the defense. What cost the Huskies
Stanford went on a 12-2 run in the
first. Also hurt the Huskies Stanford's
Spencer Jones had eight 3s in the
game scoring a total of 30s.
The Huskies had all five starters
score in double figures unfortunately
no one on the bench including Koren
Johnson who is having a good
season averaging 10.5 points a
game. Keion Brooks Jr led the
Huskies in scoring with 20 and
rebounding with 11. Moses Wood
had 18 points. Wood a transfer like
the whole Huskies starting line up
had a rough start on the season
has scored in double figures begin
with a win over Colorado State. He
is averaging 11.5 points a game
on the season.
California beat the Cougars Saturday
afternoon 81-75. It took the Golden
Bears overtime to win. The difference
in the game California made five more
foul shots than the Cougars while they
had two more attempts.
A major reason the Golden Bears won
guard Jaylen Tysonhad a career high of
30 points. They had three players in
double figures while the Cougars had
four. Andrej Jakimovski led the Cougars
with 20 points and Myles Rice had 16.
The Cougars are 7th in the Pac-12
standings with a 4-4 record.Had they
beaten Stanford they would be reversal
in record at 5-3 and be tied with Colorado
in fourth place. The Oregon Ducks lead
the conference with a 5-1 record with
Arizona and Arizona State tied at 5-2.
The Huskies are tied in 8th 3-5 record
with UCLA and California.
The Cougars will be playing Utah
Wednesday at home followed by
Colorado on Saturday. Huskies will
be home Wednesday against Colorado.
Saturday against Utah. The Huskies
have been playing better at home and
it would be great to win both games
this coming week. It won't be easy
so if they get swept the season could
be over as far as making the NCAA
tournament. They would have to win
the Pac-12 tournament to get in. That is
possible if they play well going into the
Pac-12 tournament.
Gonzaga beat San Diego again big time
on Saturday 105-63. The Zags were led
by Braden Huff coming off the bench
with 26 points and a career high. Huff
averages 11.4 points a game. Good for
the Zags to have a scorer like that off
the bench. Ben Gregg was second in
scoring with 15 points and led with 11
rebounds. In all the Zags had six scores
in double figures.
This coming Thursday they play San
Francisco at home and then Pacific
on Saturday. The Zags and San Francisco
are tied third place with 4-1 record so
should be quite the game. Pacific is
0-5 and tied with San Diego in last place.
It would be quite the upset if Pacific won.
Go Zags.
