international players this week.
The most notable international
players not counting Ichiro and
other Japanese players they signed
are not part of this group.
Julio Rodriguez and former Mariner
Felix Hernandez were signed this
way be the Mariners. They have no
other international players on the
40 roster man were signed by them.
They do have a few that are in the
Top 30 prospects. A couple of these
signings will join in.
All eight signing are from the Dominican
Republic. The Mariner are already
enriched at shortstop among their
top prospects however they signed
three of them. Shortstop Dawel Joseph
was the highest signing being number
seven in the top 50. Another in top 50
was shortstop Leandro Romero at 48.
It will be several years before any will
arrive in Seattle as they are either 16
or 17 years old. They likely will be
playing in the Dominican for at least
two years. They signed three pitchers
as well as catcher Manuel Baez and
infielder/outfielder Deuri Castillo.
Let you know if the Mariners sign
anymore international players
though they only had $6.5 million
to sign..Joseph got about half of
it. The most likely one to make it
to Seattle. Let you know who makes
the top 30 Mariners prospects besides
Joseph.
Spring training is about a month away
so more work needs to be done to bring
at least two position players on board.
Hopefully we will hear real soon. Go M's.
