Look At Seahawks Offense

The dismissal of Pete Carroll the
Seahawks offense could look a
lot different bin 2024 depending
on who the coach is.

It won't be just the head coach
but the assistant coaches that
come and go. The likelihood of
a new offensive coordinator to.

The Seahawks  were ranked 13th
in the NFL in the game while the
rushing game was at 30th. Very
sad on rushing since it is what
Pete Carroll's wanted to do and
was his downfall.

Ken Walker is a good running back
along with rookie Zach Charbonnet.
Both showed their abilities so the
trouble was the offensive line. Both
tackles Charles Cross on the left
side and  Abraham Lucas lost time
because of injuries. Cross missed
three games after starting the first
game of the season. Lucas missed
ten game  and returning in week
13 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Seahawks need more depth
to the offensive line. It is obvious
they are able to block well against
the pass however need help against
the run. The Seahawks have three
tight ends who were healthy for the
season. Colby Parkinson who is the
third tight end is going to be a free
agent so we will see whether he
returns or not. None of three tight
ends seem strong on blocking or
they should have been used more
in the running game. They were
all effective some in the passing
game.

Noah Fant the starting tight end
had 32 catches for 414 yards and
no touchdowns. Far cry from having
four touchdowns in 2022. His yardage
per catch was better though from
9.7 in 2022 to 12.9.  Will Dissly's
production went way down from
2022 where he caught 34 to 17 in
2023. His yardage per catch was the
same. He had one touchdown in 2023
compared to 3 in 2022. Colby Parkinson
had the same amount of catches and
touchdowns both seasons. He caught
25 passes and two touchdowns. His
yardage per catch went down by 3 yards.

The likelihood of the use of the tight ends
in 2023 was the use of rookie wide receiver
Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Jaxon  had 63 catches
for 628 yards and four touchdowns. Marquise Goodwin who was the third
receiver in 2022 had 27 catches with four touchdowns. DK Metcalf had fewer catches
in 2023 to 2022. He was second in receptions with 66 catches though led
the team in yardage at 1114 and had 8
touchdowns. Metcalf had more catches with 90 in 2022 but fewer yardage at
1078 and touchdowns with six. It would
be nice to see him catch more passes
next season with more yardage and TD's.
Tyler Lockett led the team in catches
with 78 however his catches, yardage and
touchdowns were down from 2022.
Tyler's salary hut is quite large next year
so we will have to see whether he returns
or not.

We will look at the defense next time on
the Seahawks. Be interesting when the
Seahawks name their next coach since there are other teams with vacancies
as well. Go Hawks!
