Friday afternoon though it doesn't
have a lot of meaning though the
pitching was good. It takes the offense
time to pick up. Final 3-2 Mariners
Mike Ford who was dh had two hits
and drove in two runs in the 4th innni g.
It was a pop fly and the Padres had
an error so their reliever Ryan Weathers
gave up three hits but none of the runs
were earned. Ford isn't expected to
make the ball club but does add depth
at first base. If he does make the team
he likely dh some and pinch hit though
could give Ty France rest at first base.
Robbie Ray was the starter for the Mariners.
He went two innings giving up two hits, a
walk and struck out one without giving up
a run. Good way to begin the Cactus League.
Perlander Berroa who the Mariners picked
up last year pitched two innings coming in
for Ray. Berroa has good stuff and he struck
out three. Gave up one hit, one walk. Has
been a starter in the minor leagues. Most
likely begin the season at double-A but you
never know.
The Mariners had eight hits on the day. Five
hits were starters besides Ford had hits
Jack Larsen who came in the game had
one hit. Tom Murphy was the only starter
and not regular in the game.
The Mariners take on the Angels tomorrow
so likely see another lineup. Marco Gonzales
expected to start. This game will be on TV.
Veteran infielder Tommy La Stella was supposed
to start at dh but he had an injury keeping him
out for a week.
Marco Gonzales likely will go two innings
on Saturday. Likely see another starter
after him. Go M's.
