Marinersose Game Two In Spring and So Does Washington Men BB

The Seattle Marinersost to the San Francisco
Giants 10,-5 in the second game of the
Cactus Spring.

The Mariners actually led 5-0 after the
first inning primarily by Mikes Mastrobuino
grandslam home run. Mastrobuino is
trying to make the team though it won't
be easy. If he can continue to hit in
the spring he could make it.

In this game he actually played in left
field showing his diversity. Most
likely he will start in Tacoma for depth.
Miles bats left handed. Cole Young
hits left handed as does Brendan Donovan.
Also Colt Emerson who the Mariners
hope to make the team. The extra
infielder needs to bat right handed.

Leo Rivas who started at shortstop
in this game bats both ways and then
there is Ryan Bliss. We will see how
this works over in the spring.

Emerson Hancock started and went
one and two-thirds innings. He looked
good though gave up there runs only
because a fly ball wasn't handled with
the sun. Munoz pitched the third followed
by Gabe Speier and Eduardo Bazardo.
The rest of the pitchers were minor
leaguers.

The  Mariners go on the road to play
the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The
starting pitcher isn't known yet.

The Washington Huskies lost to
the Maryland Terripins on Saturday
afternoon 64-60. This was a road
game the Huskies really need to
have a chance to make the NCAA
tournament. They have four games
to turn things around before the
Big Ten Tournament begins. To make
NCAA at this point they need to finish
the top five in the tournament.
The Huskies have had a good season
though the Big Ten is a tough
conference for men's basketball.

The game was pretty tight throughout
the second half. Maryland's largest
lead was five while the Huskies was
four.  The game was tied going into
the last minute. Unfortunately Maryland
scored all four points.

Maryland made five more three points
and they were better inside two. The
Huskies did shoot better from the field
but wasn't good enough.

The Terrapins did a good job on Hannes
Steinbach who had his lowest rebounds
with three and had 14 points. Zoom Diallo
led the Huskies with 19. Wesley Yates
was the only other in double figures with
12.

The Huskies will play Rutgers on the road
in New Jersey on Tuesday. We hope for
better results.

This evening Washington State Cougars
and Gonzaga will ha e games. We will let
you know how they go.
