after losing to Portland in their first
game of the season lost to St. Mary's
on the road 70-59. This means these
two teams end the West Coast
Conference season in a tie at 16-2.
St. Mary's dominated the action
down the stretch winning very easily.
The Zags led by seven at halftime.
In the second half the Zags only
scored 23 points while Sy. Mary's
had 41.
Neither team shot well from the
field however the Zags couldn't
stop St. Mary's making 3 point
shots. They made 16 of 33 behind
the line while Zags made 5 of 17.
The Zags were led by Graham Ike
with 17 points with two other
starters scoring double figures.
What didn't help the Zags was
only 8 points off the bench as
they played seven players. The
two players off the bench played
a combined 47 minutes.
Now they wait to see who they
play in the WCC tournament.
It begins on March 5.
The WSU Cougars lost to
Pepperdine Saturday 88-79.
The score difference at halftime
wasn't much difference. The
Cougars I am sure wish that
they had played a better season.
Ace Glass who has had a very
good season as a freshman led
the Cougars with 22 points. The
Cougars had ND Okafor with 15
points and 10 rebounds to lead
then in school.
This has been a terrible record
this year for the Cougars. They
finish 8th with a conference
record of 7-11. We will have to
see how the Cougars do in the
Conference tournament.
