Gonzaga Wins Big while Cougars Lose Tight Game

Gonzaga men's basketball team only
loss in West Coast Conference was to Portland earlier on they took revenge 
big time beating them 89-48.

The Zags built a 15 point lead in the
first half  however poured it on in 
the second half 53 to 27. The Zags are
now have a 28-2 overall record on
the season. The other loss was to
Michigan in a non-league game. 

The Zags shot very well from the
field making 52.4 percent. Much
if it was 21 turnovers by Portland.
The Zags made ten more shots
from behind the 3 point line. Most
stats looked about even on free
throws and rebounds. 

The Zags had four players score
in double figures led by Graham 
Ike with 19 points. 

This Saturday the Zags play at
St. Mary's in the final regular 
season game before the West
Coast Conference tournament.
This will be the last game in
the conference to as they join
the new Pac-12 next season.
If St. Mary's win at home the
two teams end in a tie for the
Conference at 16-2. 

The West Coast Conference 
tournament will be in Las Vegas
from March 5 to the 10th.

The Washington State Cougars 
men's basketball team lost to
Loyola Maramount Wednesday
night 67-66. This was after having
a 15 point lead at halftime.

It took LMU most of the second
half with a few little runs finally 
catching the Cougars at 61-61
with 1:33 remaining in the game.
After that they were able to take
the lead. Ace Glass made a three
point shot with two seconds left
for the Cougars to make a one
point loss.

The Cougars shot better from
the field than LMU. The difference 
was LMU made nine more free
throws. Glass led the Cougars
with 20 with two other players
in double figures.

The Cougars go into the final
game of the regular season
with 12-18 overall record. The
Cougars are tied with Seattle 
U and San Francisco at 7-10
in sixth place. They take on
Pepperdine on their field on
Saturday. Pepperdine is in
last place.  Even if the beat
the Cougars they will still
be last.  Go Cougs!
