losses don't mean a lot. White Sox
beat Mariners 12-10.
Brendan Donovan made his first start
of the spring at third base. He got his
first hit leading off for the Mariners
in the first inning. He was 2 for 2.
Cal Raleigh had his first home run of
spring. Julio has started off well had another hit driving in a couple runs. I am sure everyone is hoping he gets off to a good
start. Colt Emerson had a couple hits to and drove in two runs.
On the pitching side George Kirby got four outs giving up two runs He threw 45 pitches With 25 strikes. Not a typical Kirby game
but the first of the spring. The rest of the
pitching were by minor leaguers.
The Mariners are on the road Wednesday
against the Kansas City Royals. Don't
know yet who the starting pitcher will be.
In men's college basketball the Washington Huskies beat Rutgers on the road 79-72.
It was a needed win for the Huskies.
They took control midway through the
second half. The lead was seven at
half time however early on in the second
half Rutgers edged a little closer. The
Huskies were able to make it up to
12 points pounts in the last ten minutes.
Hannes Steinbach led the Huskies with
24 points making 9 of 12 from the field. To
He had 16 rebounds making it the 18th
time this season he has had a double-
double. Wesley Yates had 19 points
making 7 of 13 from the field. He made
3 of 7 from the 3 point line. Steinbach
and Yates played all but three minutes.
Zoom Diallo and Quimari Peterson had
10 points each. In all the Huskies shot
50 percent from the field. Rutgers made
seven more free throws thsn the Huskies
just to give you a little more insight.
The Huskies will be back home on
Saturday to take on Wisconsin. The
Badgers are sixth place in the Big
Ten so that won't be an easy game
either although none are in the Big
Ten. Go Dawgs!
