against the Milwaukee Brewers then
were able to hold to win.
Final Mariners 7 Brewers 5
The Mariners scored four runs in the
first inning then three more in the second
before the Brewers worked their way
back into the game.
All seven runs were done without hitting
a home run. The Mariners show on occasion
they actually can score without homers
though has been a weakness in their game.
It something the Brewers are very good at.
For the Mariners to make the playoffs it
is important for them to do so. Since
May when they had a good month hitting
home runs they have stimbled since.
What the Mariners need to do is add at
least one bat for the middle of the lineup
who can be effective in driving in runs
with runners in scoring position during
the off-season.
Randy Arozarena leads the Mariners in
on base percentage at .366. He is third
in home runs on the team and leads in
doubles. The Mariners on base percentage
team average is .309 compared to .320
last year. Batting average is .230 compared
to .244 last year.
Taylor Ward was back in the lineup after
missing five games. He had a key single
driving in two in the first inning. Be good
have him back.
Logan Gilbert went five plus innings then
left with no outs in the sixth inning. He
gave up three runs and walked four batters.
Reliever Dominguez came in the 8th after
Azardo and Ferrer had come in. Speier
had to come in with two outs as Dominguez
had given up two runs. Munoz got the save.
The Mariners were knock out the Brewers
starter after two innings however weren't
able to score off the bullpen.
Thursday's game will be day game. George
Kirby expected to start. This weekend at
home they will face the Chicago Cubs. Bryan
Woo should start the first game followed by
Emerson Hancock. Expect Bryce Miller on
Sunday though he didn't pitch well on Tuesday.
The Mariners are still four games ahead of
the Astros as they won. Rangers lost so
the Mariners are now two games behind
them. Go M's !
