eight innings. The double-header meant each
game would go seven innings unless extra
innings. The second game they lost 8-7 in
seven innings with reliever Casey Sadler
throwing a wild pitch for the runner to score
in the seventh inning.
At least it shows right now the Mariners and
Orioles are about equal having two one run
games.
In the opener Justus Sheffield went six innings
giving up three hits, two runs on a homer in
the fifth inning, two walks and five strikeouts.
Sheffield showing like other starters giving up
home runs to allow the opposing team to have
a chance to win.
Rafael Montero received the victory though
he gave up a run in the seventh inning. Kendall
Graveman pitching the eighth recorded the save.
Kyle Seager hit a double to score Mitch Haniger
who was inserted at second base in the rules for
overtime to win the game. Seager and JP Crawford
were the only two Mariners with two hits in the
game.
In the second game Nick Margevicius started
the game, however, only last three innings
giving up six hits, six runs though two were
earned. Had the Mariners not had three errors
in the game the would have won both games.
Mitch Haniger continues having a hot bat with
three hits. Jose Marmolejos hit a three-run
home run in the third inning leading to four
runs. Unfortunately the Orioles tied the game
in the bottom of the third.
Sam Haggerty hit a two-run homer in the top
of the seventh to tie the score. The Mariners
though were not able to hold it though.
Justin Dunn will start Wednesday night's
game against the Orioles. Dunn has struggled
walking batters so hopefully he will be
able to change things around.
The Mariners with a record of 6-5 are tied
for second place with the Houston Astros
a game behind the Los Angeles Angels.
The Mariners play the Astros this weekend
in Seattle. There is news Kyle Lewis could
be back for the Astros series which is good
news for sure. Go M's.
