Washington's Tryon Picked

Washington Huskies Joe Tryon decided
not to play the 2020 season for the team.
It seems it paid off with being the last
player taken in the first round.

Tryon was picked by last year's Super
Bowl champions the Tampa Bay Bucs.
You have to say it turned out a good
thing for him.

Tryon was the fifth player at his position
to be taken in the first round. You could
say it is almost as important as the quarterback
since there were five quarterbacks taken as
well.

I have to say almost as important because
the top three picks of the NFL draft were
quarterbacks. Successful teams in the NFL
have franchise quarterbacks as they call
them.

Tryon's position was listed as Edge. You
may ask what position is the Edge. All
depending on your defense it is either
an outside linebacker or defensive end.
In either case the Edge works as a defensive
end.

The Washington Huskies have no defensive
ends listed on there roster.  They have a
defensive tackle, nose tackle, two outside
linebackers, two inside linebackers, two
safeties, two cornerbacks and a slot. So
the outside linebackers work out as defensive
ends.

Joe Tyron was listed as an outside linebacker
on the Huskies team. So with Tampa Bay
he will play either at outside linebacker or
defensive end when they are in passing downs.
If he is a starter Tyron will probably be a
linebacker on running plays because of his
size.

Tyron was the third player from the Pac-12
to be taken in the first round. The other two
were offensive lineman. Three wide receivers
were taken in the top 10 of the draft. A bit
surprised because wide receivers that high
in the draft usually don't make it. I hope these
three will be exceptions.

The Seattle Seahawks don't have their first
pick until number 24 in the second round.
Depending on who is available at the time
we could see the Seahawks dropping down
which would mean they draft later in the
second round or move to a later round.
