Winker and Toro Moving On

The Seattle Mariners make trade Friday before the Winter
Meetings trading Jesse Winker
and Abraham Toro to the
Milwaukee Brewers for second
baseman Kolten Wong.

My opinion the Brewers should
give the Mariners whatever they
want since they stole the Seattle Pilots after the 1969
season. Wong will be an upgrade at 2nd base. Winker
had a poor season in 2022
and so did Toro though he had
some good hits with homers.
I hope Toro is able to find his
talent in Milwaukee. The Mariners though came out
good acquiring Eugenio Suarez
though he wasn't the major
player in the trade.

We hope Suarez will do well
until someone in the minors
comes up or the Mariners able
to sign or trade for another
3rd baseman.

Though the Mariners may fill
the outfield or not who will be
the major dh in the upcoming
season. The Mariners don't
have Winker or Carlos Santana
or Kyle Lewis any longer.

If you look at the roster right
now Cooper Hummel could dh along with being a backup outfielder and catcher. They still have Tom Murphy but he
is still on the injured list. We
could see the Mariners pick
up another catcher in the
next few weeks.

There is more but talk later
about it.

Andy McKay has been promoted to assistant general
manager. The work he has
done with the minor league
players is amazing.

On Thursday the Mariners
hired his replacement as head
of player development in Justin
Tools who was Cleveland's
hitting analyst.

The question still is Mitch Haniger returns or they go
after another outfielder. I
would not stand just for
Jarred Kelenic. The Mariners
can use extra guys at dh.
We still don't know Kelenic
or Taylor Trammel future looks
like though they have the talent
still.
