We Will Miss You Lenny Wilkens

As a young child even before the
Supersonics became an expansion
team Lenny Wilkens was my favorite
player. He was playing for the St.Louis
Hawks before they moved to Atlanta.

When the Supersonics became an
expansion they had Walt Hazzard
on the team. He was my second
favorite player who the Sonics
traded to the Hawks for Lenny
Wilkens. I was so excited that
Lenny was coming to Seattle though
sad that Walt was leaving at same
time.

It was exciting that Lenny eventually
became the player coach for the
Sonics and then eventually traded
to the Cleveland Caveliers. When
his playing career was over Lenny
came back as coach once again
then left once again. The Sonics
win the team's only NBA championship
under Lenny.

Bill Russell became coach of the Sonics.
He was another favorite player. I think
why I like Lenny, Walt and Bill  they
were not selfish players and played
basketball the way it should be.

Lenny Wilkens we will miss you. It
was so nice you came back to Seattle
after your coaching years and did
kind things in Seattle. You have been
a bright spot in the community.
It was nice that Bill Russell made
it his home as well.Rest in peace
Lenny Wilkens from a young kid
those years ago.
