The transfer portal doesn't really start
until early January this off-season in
college football. There have been
players who have announced they are
jumping ship.
At this time the two schools are under
different circumstances right now.
The Huskies are having players who
are not getting playing they expected
when they came to Washington. The
Cougars have players who are leaving
since coach Jimmy Rogers is now
coaching at Iowa State so some of
those will likely land there. They could
still have more going to unless they
like what they see from the new head
coach.
The Huskies on the other hand will look to
bring in transfers to fill the spots of those
who leave or graduated where the new
class of 2026 don't have the experience.
This comes down to whether Coach Fesch
actually stays or takes the Michigan job
that he has turned down. It will be interesting
what happens if he does. The Huskies would
be in the same boat as the Cougars
The Cougars will likely bring in guys who
want a change possibly coming from a
lower class program though some who
have played major college football might
want another scene. Many of the players
the Cougars received last year in the
transfer portal it is hard to know how many
would be able to make another jump to
Iowa State we will see.
News came in that wide receiver Raiden
Vines-Bright is going to enter the portal.
He had 24 catches on the season and
one touchdown. Coming from Florida
the sophomore to might be looking to
go closer to home. Right now the Huskies
have nine players in the transfer portal.
Another who had some extensive playing
time leaving is offensive lineman Zachary
Henning who started some games at
center as well as guard. They even used
him at tight end.
The Cougars right now have 13 players
in the transfer. Included are two quarterbacks.
This means three quarterbacks not be
including starter Zevi Eckhaus who is
graduating. It certainly means the Cougars
will look in the transfer portal for another
QB. They also have four wide receivers
as well.
The trouble with college football is teams
recruiting players from other schools. I
don't have a problem them recruiting those
who have already decided to go but those
who haven't decided yet shouldn't be. That
should be a violation though I do know all
College Football players are free agents after the regular season is over and coached are
going at will. Of course schools that fire
a coach it is reasonable they have to go
out to get another coach or a coach retires
it goes to the NFL. Time to clean up the
sport.
We will let you know more later more those
who leave or come to both schools.
