WSU Wins Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

The Cougars dominated the bowl game
Monday afternoon winning 34-20.
The score not as close as it looks.

A great game for a team that their
head coach Jimmy Rogers left for
Iowa State after the season and
didn't have a full squad with 15
players going into the transfer portal.

Zevi Eckhaus who became the starter
in game three played his last college
game. Zevi threw a touchdown pass
in the first and second quarter while
the defense shutdown Utah State 14-0.

The Cougars kicked two field goals
in the third quarter before Utah scored
their first of three touchdowns.

Eckhaus threw his third touchdown
early on in the 4th quarter making
it 27-7. At 10:09 left Utah State scored
their second touchdown. Four minutes
later the Cougars had a 34 yard run making
it hard on Utah State. They basically
clinched the game at that time. Utah
State had another touchdown at 1:48
remaining making it still hard having
to score two more touchdowns to win.

The Cougars had over 600 total yards.
Eckhaus had three interceptions however
didn't any difference. Running back
Maxwell Woods had to take over the
starting role carry the ball nine times
for 117 yards which was more than he
had during the season. He didn't have
the running touchdown the Cougars had.
The Cougars ran 255 yards total while
Utah had only 60 yards on the day.

It will be interesting to see how the
Cougars rebuild going into the new
Pac-12 next season. The Cougars
start the season playing the Apple
Cup at Huskies Stadium on September
5. Let you know the who schedule
when we find out. Go Cougs!
