first baseman -outfielder Rob Refsynder
recently played for the Boston Red Sox
as a free agent.
Refsynder has been known for his best
against lefties. He was signed to a one
year contract. The Mariners haven't had
a lot of success the last couple years
bringing in bench players. Last year
the Mariners signed Donovan Solano
before the season however he wasn't
much of a success though did improve
somewhat over time on the team before
being released. We hope Refsynder
will be better.
Most likely he will dh against lefties
with Luke Raley or Dominic Canzone
against righties. Most likely both
won't be on the opening day roster
in 2026.
The Mariners have less than two months
until spring training starts. The first
game will be on February 20. The players
beginning with pitchers and catchers
will likely report at least ten days before
that.
The Mariners will likely sign or trade
for a mid infielder. Right now Cole
Young and Ben Williamson would be
the starting second and third baseman.
Picking up someone to play to give
them a day off or from the opposite
side of the plate. Right now Ryan Bliss
would be the candidate to play some
second while Miles Mastrobuino be
the guy at third. Bliss could play some
shortstop too.
Brendan Donovan has been one of the
biggest names out there for the Mariners
trade for with the Cardinals. He is a left
handed hitter so would be play more third
and on occasion play second. Who would
the Mariners trade for him. Unless it
happens in the next few days we may have
to wait until January.
