to win the series opener in Anaheim
against the Angels.
Jarred Kelenic hit a home run with
JP Crawford on base to take the lead
2-0 lead in the first inning. It was a good
sign however Luis Castillo gave up two
home runs costing the Mariners the
game 6-4. Actually both were with s
runner on base. Ohtani made up for
his first inning home run to Kelenic
by hitting the first two-run homer.
The Mariners offense and pitching didn't
take advantage of Ohtani's five walks.
He gave up only three hits in five innings.
Castillo went six innings striking out ten.
He gave up five runs however only three
were earned because of a fielding error
by JP Crawford. Ty France had two of the
Mariners four hits. Those two other hits
were Kelenic home run and another home
run by Mike Ford in the 9th inning. It
would be nice if Ford got hot as well as few other Mariners hitters.
After having a good homestand besides
the Yankees series this road trip has been
terrible. Mariners need to turn things around starting Saturday night. Bryan Woo
will make his second start. Hopefully a lot
better than his major league opener last
Saturday. The answer is the pitching has
to get back to where it was and the offense
where it hasn't been for most of the season. Go M's
