Red Sox Takes Series

Wednesday was the final game
of the series where the Mariners
lost 3-2.

The game  went ten innings.
The Mariners had Cal Raleigh
as the designated runner on second.
He was able to get to third on
wild pitch with no outs. They were
able to load the bases but no runs scored.
A common problem they have.

In the bottom of the tenth Devers hit
a double to score the winning run.
Why the Mariners didn't walk Devers
to allow a force out at any base I
don't know.

George Kirby had a so so game. Only
lasted five and a third innings. Only walked
one however  threw a wild pitch in the
first inning that gave up a run. He gave
up his second run in the sixth inning
before leaving.

The bullpen did a fine job. My only
question was bring in Jonathan
Diaz who recently called up from
Tacoma to pitch the 10th inning.
Had the game gone further I
would understand.

Dylan Moire singled in Cal Raleigh
in the fourth inning and Josh Rojas
scored the second run with a homer
in the second before the Red Sox tied
in the sixth.

The series against  the Phillies will
be Woo on Friday, Bryce Miller
Saturday and Logan Gilbert.
Hope for a better result. Go M's!

Mariners Bounce Back

Tuesday the .Mariners won 10-6.
It does get uncomfortable playing
in Fenway Park. Nice to have Yimi
Garcia and Munoz finish off the
8th and 9th innings.

The Mariners scored first in the
first inning when Justin Turner
singled in Robles  for his first hit
as a Mariner. Robles had a good
day once again scoring three times
and had two hits. Played some
good center field as well.

Red Sox scored three runs in the
third. The Mariners were able to
bounce back with five in the fifth
inning. Dylan Moore had one of his
two doubles driving in three runs.
The Red Sox had a couple errors
as sell that didn't help their cause.

The Mariners scored three more
in the sixth inning to make it look
like a runaway. Jorge Polanco
had a double driving in two runs
then Cal Raleigh scored on a wild
pitch from third.  That was all the
scoring on the day for the Mariners.

Luis Castillo lasted six innings. Tayler
Saucedo started the seventh inning
giving up two runs. Collin Snider came
in to get final out however he gave IP
the third run making anything possible

George Kirby starts Wednesday's
game which starts just after 1pm
Seattle time. We hope the Mariners
can win the series.

The Mariners were only able to
make one trade on Tuesday before
the trading deadline acquiring
reliever JT Chargois from the
Miami Marlins. If that name
sounds familiar he once pitched
for the Mariners in 30 games before
being traded for Diego Castillo.
Chargois has been hurt for much
of the season. Though his numbers
haven't looked good this year he
has pitched well for the Marlins.

I am sure everyone was hoping for
another bat however they did pick
up two in recent days.

We see how things go for the Mariners. in August. Hope to have Julio back soon.

Mariners Were Blownout

Monday evening Mariners lost
so bad it is a game they want to
forget. Tuesday will be another
game they hope to win.

Final Boston 14  Seattle 7

The Red Sox scored seven runs in
third inning. Logan didn't get through
the third yielding all those runs.
He left with two outs in the third.
There was a questionable call that
went for a walk instead of a strikeout.
Might have made a whole difference
in the game. Of course will never
know.

Trent Thornton who came in for
Gilbert didn't fair any better going
for two innings and giving up five
runs.Gabe Speier pitched an inning
and a third giving up the final two
runs. What all had in common was
each gave up a home run.

Any pluses in the game Randy
Arozarena had his first home run
as a Mariner. Also Cal Raleigh
who loves to hit home runs in
Fenway Park had one two.

Luis Castillo will start on Tuesday
against former Mariner James
Paxton who recently returned to
Boston after pitching for the
Dodgers.

The trading deadline is on Tuesday.
So we hope the Mariners add another
best as well as a reliever. The Mariners
haven't given up any high prospects
as of yet so they could do so if
necessary in a high blockbuster trade.
We will find out.

Mariners Make Couple Moves

The Mariners made a couple moves
that are not life shattering however
help them in a way.

The Mariners were able to trade Ty France
to the Cincinnati Reds for a minor league
catcher. That adds depth to a position
that is weak. The Mariners recently drafted
couple catchers who were in the top ten
rounds and now another to go with Harry
Ford whis currently on the injured list
with a concussion. Whether that is a
blessing where a team won't ask for
him in a trade we may find out or not.
I am sure he isn't traded words won't
come out that he was hurt. He may not
have traded him anyway.

The Mariners acquired Justin Turner
from the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto
received a minor leaguer not among
the top of the prospects. Turner may
help at first or dh or pinch hitting.
They still need to go and get another
bat over the next 24 hours or so.

The Mariners take on the Red Sox in a
few hours. It would be nice to win the
opening game of the series. The Red Sox
are having a good season though.
Go Mariners.

Mariners Sweep White Sox

When you are struggling yourself
it doesn't hurt playing the worst
team in the major leagues.

Final Seattle 6 Chicago 3

The Mariners scored their six runs
in the first four innings which is a
far cry from what they have produced
for a while. Randy Arozarena was on
when Cal Raleigh hit a two-run homer
in the first inning. Leo Rivas starting
at shortstop grounded out scoring
Dylan Moore who was playing at third
scored in the second inning. In the third
inning Jorge Polanco and Dylan Moore
each scored. The White Sox their first run
making it 5-1. Cal Raleigh singles driving in Victor Robles the final run in the fourth
inning. Paul DeJong hits a two-run home
run in the seventh inning.

Bryce Miller pitched well going well into
the 7th inning. He gave up the three runs
and getting only one out. Austin Voth
finished the inning. Garcia pitched the
8th and Munoz the 9th. The Mariners
bullpen didn't give up a hit.

The Mariners now go to take on the
Red Sox. Logan Gilbert will start Monday
followed by Luis Castillo on Tuesday
and George Kirby on Wednesday. Go
M's.

We will have to see whether the Mariners make anymore moves before the trading
deadline.

Mariners Take Game Two

When a team is struggling it is
nice to take on the worst team
in the major leagues to recover.

The Mariners had another game
where they could score some
runs an Saturday evening was
that again.

The White Sox scored first in
the third inning came up with
one run.  Luis Robert Jr.  scored
on a single after he got on base
on a throwing error by Josh Rojas
that Tyler Locklear couldn't handle
at first.

The Mariners didn't take long with
Jorge Polanco hitting a solo home
run. Dylan Moore and Josh Rojas each
had dingles driving in two ones making
it 3-2 in the fourth. They scored two
more runs in the fifth when Cal Raleigh
hit a home run followed by Polanco
second one of the day. Later in the
eighth Randy Arozarena had his first
single as a Mariner than scored on Polanco's third hit of  the day a single.
As you can imagine Polanco wanted
to hit a home run however extending
the lead was what important. The
White Sox had their third run in the eighth.
Final  Mariners 6  White Sox 3

Bryan Woo started out well however only
went four innings throwing seventy pitches.
Collin Snider pitched the fifth followed
by Austin Voth in the sixth.

Yimi Garcia made his debut in the seventh.
Gregory Santos was back in the 8th
struggling a little bit giving up the third
run. Wouldn't expect him to.pitch Sunday.
Andre Munoz took care of the ninth.

The question is will the Mariners make
another deal before the deadline. At
this point they have only traded three
prospects. The only top one traded
was Jonatan Clase trade to Toronto.
The two for Randy were further done
in the second part of the top 20.
Room to do more damage. The could
trade a couple in the top ten and someone
else between 11 and 20 along with 21
through 30.

The recent draft brings two more
pitchers into the top ten and a few
maybe into the top 20. Leaves a lot of
prospects they could move a few along.

Bryce Miller will start Sunday afternoon
in Chicago. The Red Sox series hasn't been
listed yet who will start. Good chance
Logan will start Monday followed by Luis
Castillo on Tuesday. Wednesday not sure of. Go M's.

Mariners Come Alive

It is a good time when your team
is struggling to come play the
worst team in baseball.

On Friday night the Mariners
won 10-0 over the Chicago
White Sox in  Chicago.

The Mariners hit three home runs
in the first inning in a row. Josh
Rojas started off with a three-run
homer followed by Dylan Moore
and Victor Robles.  Ended the
first with eight runs.  A few innings
later Jorge Polanco hit a two-run
homer to end the scoring.

George Kirby had another quality
shutting out the White Sox for
seven innings. Bryan Woo will go
Saturday  afternoon and the game
will be on Fox TV.

The Mariners made two more
trades on Saturday. They acquired
veteran right handed reliever from
the Toronto Blue Jays for outfielder
Jonatan Clase. With the stack of
outfielders Clase was one who could
be traded. He was able to show
what he had in limited time up
a couple times with the Mariners
this year. We wish him the best.

The Mariners traded reliever Ryne
Stanek to the New York Mets later
in the day for a minor league outfielder.
Stanek showed some stuff with the
Mariners however was wild at times
as well. Garcia will take his spot while
Gregory Santos looks to come back
after bring hurt in the leg on Wednesday.
We will see if any additional trades are
made soon.

We do hope the Mariners can take
care of the White Sox before heading
to Boston for three games against
the Red Sox. Go Mariners!

Mariners Make A Move

Thursday night the Seattle Mariners made
a move to improve their offense.

Not a big surprise as far as a trading
partner. Whether this is the only trade
we will find out the next few days.

The Mariners acquired outfielder Randy
Arozarena from the Tampa Rays. It
always seems seems every year the
two teams make a trade.  The Rays
received two minor leaguers in the
trade. We will see how this trade
works over some time.

Both players are in the low minors.
Outfielder Aiden Smith and right
hander pitcher Brody Hopkins. Also
added is a player to be named later.

Arozarena was the American League
rookie of the year in 2001 so he has
some years ahead. He got off to a
slow start in 2024 like many of his
new teammates however has done
better recently.

The Mariners will have Arozarena for
control over the next two years. He
is hitting .290 since June 1. A right handed
bat that will likely play in left field. Hopefully he is better then what they have
had there in  years.

His former teammate in Tampa Luke Raley
will see time in right field and first base
mostly though could give him a rest on
occasion in left. Arozarena will likely plant
himself behind Julio Rodriguez in the
lineup which we hope is a good thing.

What this means for Dominic Canzone
and others in the outfield we will see.
Wouldn't be surprised if another trade
comes about. The Mariners could use
another best which might be an infielder
at second or third base. Picking up a
reliever or two would be good as well.
Go M's.

Seahawks Open Training Camp

The Seahawks  this week  opened
trying camp under new  head coach
Michael  Macdonald. I  am  sure  the
feeling is different  for all the players
returning who had played for Pete
Carroll.

The Seahawks  have had ota's and
minicamps under Macdonald however
this isn't  the  same.

Fans and media can watch the camp
however cameras and phones are not
allowed except  for  emergencies.

Abe Lucas isn't  practicing  yet though
the Seahawks hope he will be able to
start at right  tackle  when the season
yet. This means the backups have the
chance to show what they. The team's
inside linebackers  have passed their
physicals so set there.

The Seahawks  have their plans for
safety Julian Love as he has signed
a three-year  deal. He had a good
season  last year.

Be good  to  see how the offense
and defense pick up things with
new schemes. Everyone is hoping
improvement on both sides and
get a run at the playoffs.

We will give any details along
the way. Go Hawks!

Mariners Are Swept

This was not an easy series to watch.
Again the Mariners had trouble scoring
runs. Mitch Haniger hit a home run
to put the Mariners up 1-0 however
it was the only run they scored.

Like the previous games the Angels
came behind to win. The Angels
really do a whole lot other than
score two runs.

Luis Castillo went six innings giving
up no runs.  The seventh inning the
Angels didn't score either. Gregory
Santos who was activated right
before the all-star break had to leave
the game because of his leg. The
Angels tied the game while he was
on the mound. The Mariners had
to take him.out.

It is do amazing and weird where the
Mariners lost all three games against
the Angels in fluke situations. They
should still have a large lead with what
the pitching has done.

Now the Mariners go to Chicago to
play the White Sox on Friday. Can't
say anything more right now..

Mariners Down Sliding

Tuesday's  game looked a lot like Monday's
except  it started earlier. Actually it happened
one inning which was the fifth. Logan Gilbert
was pitching great. The Angels got a couple
hits then the bases loaded. A couple throwing
errors  five runs came across the plate. Only
one run was earned.

The Mariners  got their run early  on. Late in
the game the Mariners were able to get the
bases loaded  however there were two outs.
Dreams of a grand slam was the only chance
they had. Jorge Polanco was up to the plate.
He actually  hit the ball  pretty  well but not
enough for any kind of hit. Had there been
less than two outs it would have been  a
sacrifice  fly and a run inching closer.

Tuesday  was a busy day with JP Crawford
and Julio Rodriguez  going on the injured
list. According  to  Julio he will be back
before JP.  The Mariners  added more
players to the roster. The Mariners designated
for assignment  Ty France after clearing
waivers. Tyler Locklear was added on to
replace France. Luis Rivas brought up for
JP Crawford  spot. For now it looks like Dylan
Moore will start mostly  at shortstop. We hope
he can start hitting once again. Cade Marlowe
was added to  replace Julio and started in
right field  as Victor Robles  in center.

Wednesday's  game is in the afternoon. It could
be interesting  if the sun is out. Right now the
Mariners  could use some runs. We could see
Mitch Garver behind the plate although the
Mariners  have Thursday off  and travel to
Chicago.  We hope the Mariners  don't play
the same level as the White Sox  as they doing
against the Angels. The Angels haven't done
anything special the Mariners are beating
themselves.  Go team!

Mariners Lose To Angels Again

The Mariners had done well against the
Angels earlier on however now they are 1-4
in the last five times.

Bryce Miller pitched well going seven
innings shutting out the Angels 1-0.
The bullpen didn't do their job giving
up three runs. It still came down to
lack of scoring on the players part.
The only good thing the Astros lost
to the Oakland A's.

Right now it is real hard to watch the
Mariners. Even those seasons they
didn't do well it was better than now.
The Mariners have the best starting
pitching in all of baseball but still
lose.

The Mariners are the only team that
hasn't made the World Series. This
season for a while looked like they had
chance. At this moment it looks like
the biggest callapse in baseball history.
Other teams wouldn't want to face
the Mariners in the playoffs and they
may not have to once again unless
some moves are done. Go Mariners.

Mariners Win Sunday

Bryan Woo pitched well I most of his
five and two-thirds innings. He gave
up two runs without a walk. Woo
gave up a home run in the fourth inning
and another in the sixth inning.

One key is the Mariners scored first
in the second inning when Dylan
Moore hit a triple scoring two runners.
Alvarez hit a long home run making
it Mariners 2-1 lead. Alvarez did much
of the damage going 4 for 4. Why the
Mariners continue to pitch to him
is the question. Sort of like they did
with Mike Trout.

Jorge Polanco hit a solo home run to
match Alvarez in the bottom of the
4th.  The Astros scored in the top
of the sixth to make it 3-2 Mariners.
Luke Raley hit a three run homer
in the bottom of the sixth. The Astros
scored a run in the seventh and the
eighth to make it interesting. Andre
Munoz came in and closed the door
in the 9th. Final Mariners 6 Astros 4

Julio Rodriguez had to leave the game
running into the fence. XRays showed
being negative so likely day to day right
now. News came out that Ty France was
out on outright waivers. He can still play
unless another team picks him up
or the Mariners release. Still on the
roster right now however Tyler Locklear
will start seeing action at first base in
the near future.

Reliever Mike Baumann was traded to
the San Francisco for cash considerations.

The Mariners will start series against
the Los Angeles Angels Monday at
home. Bryce Miller starts Monday,
Logan Gilbert Tuesday and Luis
Castillo on Wednesday.

The Mariners will have Thursday off
and have a series against the White
Sox in Chicago beginning Friday.
They will play the Red Sox the following
Monday through Wednesday. Have
that Thursday off then a three game
series at home against the Philadelphia
Phillies beginning of August.

Mariners Lose Again

The Seattle Mariners continue to
struggle at the plate. George Kirby
did well on the mound giving up
only one run in six innings.

When he left the game the Mariners
were losing 1-0 however the bottom
off the sixth Victor Robles walk then
Julio hit a two-run home to take a
lead 2-1 for a short time.  In the 7th
Ryne Stanek gave up a two-run homer
himself for 3-2 lead. Trent Thornton
who came in with two outs in the
seventh gave up a line drive homer
to left field in the eighth making it
4-2. Question why did George Santos
not pitch the eighth since he had
warmed up. Not sure who is incharged
of the pitching.

Julio had a chance on another homer
in the ninth but was robbed by the
right fielder.  It would have put the
Mariners down by one. Another great
play by the Astros left fielder robbed
them of another possible by catching
a ball that would have been a double
at least. This is why the Astros are a
better team than the Mariners right
now because they make plays.

Sunday Bryan Woo goes to the
mound. See if he can change
the Mariners misfortune. Go M's.

Mariners Shutout Friday Night

The Mariners offense continues
to struggle Friday night being
shutout 3-0.

Luis Castillo started and went
seven innings. He gave up six
hits. The three runs were given
up in the third inning.

The Mariners offense continues
to suffer having only four hits
on the night. Victor Robles  who
became a steady starter before
th e all-star break had two of the
four hits. Josh Rojas and Jorge
Polanco had the others. Polanco's
hit was a double with two outs
but couldn't have a key hit after.

The trading deadline is less than
two weeks. The Mariners need to
get a bat soon or the current hitters
start swinging. The Astros are now percentage points ahead of the
Mariners. They need to win at least
one of the two remaining games in
this series or be in a tough spot.

The Mariners pitching is stilling
doing well giving up only three
runs but unable to score themselves
puts them in an ackward spot.
Picking up a bat as soon as possible
needs to happen. Last year they
missed the playoffs by one game.
The wrong timing could hurt them.

The Mariners have been in the best
spot in years to make a run at the
league championship but a bat in
the middle of the lineup has to
and no excuses. Go team.

Mariners After All-star Break

They call it second half of the season
when the all-star  break  is over however
the Mariners  have 64 games remaining.
The team record right now 52-46.

If the Mariners  split the rest of their
games they will have 84 wins. They
win at  55% rate of right now it would
be only one more win to make at 85.
Most likely  the  Mariners won't  make
the playoffs at that. A lot  depends
on how the Astros  do coming down
the stretch. The Rangers will have to
win at a good rate to beat the Mariners
or the Astros.

Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with
a batting average  of .267. He has only
10 home runs and  35 rbi's.  Both are third
on the team. For the team to have real
success it will be important if Julio can
double his home  run  and rbi's. Actually
the rbi's  be the most important.

Cal Raleigh has 20 home runs and 61
rbi's.  It would be good if he can stay
at the same rate. Mitch Garver has
12 home runs and 37 rbi's.  If he can
increase his production as well as
Julio that will quite a bit. Adding a
productive  bat in the middle of the
lineup would be the best answer.

The rest of the lineup just do their
part. Get rid of platooning would
be a good  solution as well. Scoring
four or five runs a game more often
than three or less. Speaking of less
we have to do that with strikeouts.

They know what they have to do
the thing is will they. The starting
pitching stay the same and improving
the bullpen.  Go M's!

Washington State Cougars Football 2024

Right now not a lot of people
including the Cougars faithful
fans know what the upcoming
season will look like.

This will be the first time the
Cougars will not play Pac-12
or ten or eight in a long time.
We know the Cougars have had
years of ups and downs. Years
where they had a great seasons
in PAC conference not a lot of
people expected anyway. It was
good when either the Cougars
or OSU Beavers had winning
seasons in the conference and
even more so when they both
did.

Last season Cougars got off to
a very good start then took a
slide. The Colorado Buffaloes
did the same thing. Colorado
will be going to the Big 12. That
will be a bit of a slide from the
Pac-12.  In some respects the
Cougars might play a bit better
schedule than the Buffaloes.

Though the Cougars will play
against the Mountain West
for the most part those teams
are good. They may not be as
good as the Pac-12  but a good
brand of football.

The Cougars are bringing back
a lot of players they may not
match the Huskies in the Apple
Cup. We will no closer to the
game. Even so the Cougars will
show the Huskies since they
are rivals though no longer in
the same league.

There are talks that division one
football may still look different in
a couple years or so. They could
have two super conferences.
They could be split up between
the east and the west. Could
see Georgia and Alabama be
among the elite in East. Ohio
State and Michigan could be
the elite in the West. Of course,
USC, Oregon and Washington
should be included too.

The two super conferences
could be split up with the top
teams in the country and the
lesser in the other. Where
Washington and Oregon end
up may depend how they do
in the Big Ten. The top teams
will have a chance to get the
top recruits while the teams
will fight over the rest.

We know to that television
ratings will say a lot as well.
The teams that want to be
seen around the country will
be in one conference. Even
if teams are good but the
ratings not so good they will
be in the lesser conference.
Non-league games could be
among the teams in the two
conferences. All the remaining
teams will be in a rough spot
since they won't get as much
television  money.

All this leads to where the Cougars
an the Beavers end up in the
end. They may end up among
the two big conferences but
play in the lower one. They could
be back playing Arizona, Arizona
State, Utah and Colorado..

All the otberd sports they will
likely be setup the way have been
before. It will be interesting to
see what happens.

We wish the Cougars a really
good 2024 season. We hope
a winning season.  👍👍

Seattle Seahawks Quarterbacks

Again this season  for the third
year Geno Smith  is  expected
to be the Seahawks  starting
quarterback.  Much of the
success of the team will come
down to him.

It will be not only him however
what he will do will be seen as
success or failure. The Seahawks
have two new quarterbacks on
the team. How much either one
plays depends on Geno Smith's
success, lack of or whether he
stays healthy.

Right now the two other quarterbacks
are Sam Howell  who they got in a
trade with the Washington Commanders
and PJ Walker signed as a free agent.
Often the Seahawks  haven't kept
three quarterbacks however this could
be different this year. In case of injury
it is good to have three quarterbacks.

Seahawks  fans are a little  bit  familiar
with both Howell and Walker having
faced them both last season. Howell
was the starter at the time for  the
Commanders and PJ Walker started
for  the  Cleveland Browns as they
we're going through injuries at the
position.

Howell right now would be considered
the number two and Walker  three.
We could see change during camp
though.

Though Howell  was traded to the Seahawks
it doesn't  mean  in the long term he will
become the Seahawks  starting quarterback
eventually though it could happen. Most
likely we will see both Howell and Walker
play a lot in the preseason games.

Whether fans like it or not Geno Smith  is
the starting quarterback for the time being.
We wish him the very  best.  With his contract
we could see a new quarterback  at the helm
in 2025. Go Hawks!

Third Day of the MLB Draft

The Seattle Mariners third
day went much like the first
two days of the major league
draft. They picked seven pitchers
round elleven through 20.
These picks didn't take long
with 300 players picked in three
hours.

In total the Mariners have 14
pitchers and six position players.
Day three seven pitchers, two
third baseman and the 20 pick
was an outfielder just like the
10th pick.

The eleventh pick taken was
pitcher Christian Little from
LSU. Christian started college
at Vanderbilt before moving
to LSU in 2022. This year his
stats don't look and he became
a full-time reliever. We will see
what will come of him. Outside
of the first two picks most of
these pitchers are relievers.
Last year he was drafted in
the 19th rou d by the New York
Mets. Mariners must have seen
something to move up this much.

12th rounderanother right handed
pitcher in Evan Truitt. He is six foot
tall while Christian is four inches
taller. Evan went to Charleston
Southern. He started and relieved
so see what the Mariners do.

13th and 14th rounds where the
two third baseman taaken. First
taken Brandon Eike from VCU.
His first two years were at  North
Carolina before transferring to
VCU.he didn't play much his first
two seasons. He showed some
power while hitting very good.
Since he was drafted first the
Mariners could have him at
a higher level. The other is Austin
St. Laurant who went to Appalachian
State. He played there three years.
His power and average went up.
Hard to know whether he sign with
the Mariners or not.

The next five pitchers are all right
handers. We will have to figure
out where they go and be signed
by the Mariners.

The  last pick outfielder Ryan Picollo
went to St. Joseph's. Has played three
three years so he could stay in school
so we will have to see.

We will have more details on the guys
on this last day. Who signs and who
doesn't.

Knowing Washington Huskies Will Rogers

The Washington Huskies have a
new quarterback after Michael
Penix Jr. college eligibility was
finished last season and went
into the NFL drafted in the first
round by the Atlanta Falcons.

The Washington Huskies have
a new quarterback for one season
in graduate student Will Rogers
who played four seasons at
Mississippi State. Three of the
seasons his head coach was
the late Mike Leach who coached
for the Washington State Cougars
as well.

How well the Huskies do with
Will Rogers this coming season
and the first in the Big Ten we
will see. Under new head coach
Jedd Fisch we will likely see a
NFL type of offense. This could
have some wrinkles of Mike Leach
in it as well.

In his four seasons at Mississippi
State Rogers threw for 12,315 yards.
He had 94 touchdowns and completed
69.3 of his passes. His best two seasons
were his sophomore and junior years
where he played in 13 games both times.

Rogers best season was his sophomore
year where he threw for 4739 yards and
36 touchdowns. I would say the Huskies
will have a good season if he gets close
to those stats. I am sure Rogers will make
every effort to do so if he wants a NFL
career.

We will look into other members of
the Huskies team over the weeks ahead.

Second Day of MLB Draft. Look at the Mariners

Monday the baseball draft were rounds
three through ten. Tuesday will be 11
through 20 and end the draft.

The Mariners drafted five more
pitchers along with two catchers
and an outfielder.

Mariners number two pick on Sunday
Ryan Sloan is the lone high school
pitcher of the group. The Mariners will have to psy him more than the slot to sign him which they should. He maybe the best
high school pitcher in the country.

Third round pick is Hunter  Chranton from
Kansas. He will turn 24 in the fall so must be a late bloomer. A reliever Hunter could
move up the system fast. Number four pick is the first of two catchers in Josh Caron
from Nebraska. He hit .308 and had 16
home runs so showing some power.

5th round pick Charlie Beilenson another
right hander is 24 years old and another
reliever as well. He played at Duke though
spent time at Brown. Sixth rounder is
Grant Knipp a catcher from Campbell
University in North Carolina. A lower  level
than the other catcher he hit .408 and
had 18 home runs in 29 games. Certainly
looks like a guy for the Mariners take
a chance on.

7th rounder is Brock Moore another
right handed pitcher who is 24 years
old to from Oregon. He played lower
level college ball to. Another guy
the Mariners are taking a chance
on. 8th rounder pitcher from Virginia
Military Institute is Will Riley.  He to
is another one the Mariners will work
on. He is committed to transfer to
Virginia so we will have to see if
the Mariners can sign him or not.

9th rounder is Aiden Butler a junior
college pitcher who has committed
to Florida State..He is younger than
any of the pitchers except Sloan
the second rounder. See if Butler
will sign or not. Usually the top
ten are more likely to sign.

The Mariners final pick Monday
is outfielder Anthony Donofrio
from North Carolina. The tenth
round pick is a senior and hits
left handed. Played some division
3 baseball so has matured. He
hit .326 this year. Anthony has
some spped to. The Mariners
should be able to sign him.

It seems a lot of these guys
are older and with potential.
We will have to see what happens.
The top of the group have a
better chance to.make it to
Seattle. The way the Mariners
develop pitchers we could see
some surprises.

Tomorrow's group drafted will
either not sign with the Mariners
or certainly have a harder chance
making it but never know.

First Two Rounds of MLB Draft

This year the Mariners drafted two
pitchers in the first and second
rounds. Since the last three years
drafting position players early
they have gone back to pitching.

In the first round the Mariners
drafted Jurrangelo Cijntje who
throws from both sides. There
had bee. reports this was who
they were leaning to. He is
from Curacao but pitched at
Mississippi State. He has been
a starter so likely start out this
way. Depending how fast he
comes up the system we could
see him in the bullpen. We will
see won't we. He throws the ball
hard from both sides. Can reach
up to 99 miles per hour.

The second round with the #55
pick Ryan Sloan a high school
right handed pitcher from York
Illinois. He throws the ball hard to.
Throws  changeup and a slider
too.

The draft is 20 rounds so.let you
know who else they draft tomorrow.

Mariners Take Another Loss

I am sure Mariners fans are frustrated
losing three straight to the Angels
after winning the opener 11-0 on
Thursday.

Sunday Logan Gilbert pitched
great going seven innings  without
giving up a run. On the otherhand
the Mariners were no hit until
the sixth inning when JP Crawford
hit a home run. The Mariners got
another run when Victor Robles
starting for the second time in
a row against a right. He ended
up walking stealing second and
then third. Almost hit by the throw
at third he came into score. The
only two runs for the Mariners.

Although it looked good the 8th
inning was a disaster. Ryne Stanek
walked a batter on four pitches.
He had to leave the game for
stiffness in his back. The Mariners
brought in Austin Voth who walked
a batter to and then gave up a
three-run homer and that was the
game. The Mariners brought in
Tayler Saucedo to replace Voth
however he should have come in
for Stanek instead. At least we
won't need to see the Mariners
until Friday.

The major league draft is happening
now. Nine players have been drafted
right now and the Mariners first pick
is at 15. Let you know later how they
do.

Futures Game and MLB Draft

Saturday was the major league baseball
futures game coming ahead  before the
all-star game on Tuesday.  The National
League won 6-1.  They had seven hits
including two home runs.

Mariners top prospect Cole Young
started at second base for the
American League. He had one of
their five hits. Cole is currently batting
.262 with a .352 on base percentage.
He has seven home runs and 35
RBIs. Striking out at 18% rate. Has
14 stolen bases. Whether he will
be ready for the majors next year
we will see.

Catcher Harry Ford played as well.
He was a dh and walked once. Ford
is batting .253 however has an excellent
.376 on base percentage. He is striking
out at high rate just under 25% of the time.
This is especially high for someone
who hss only five home runs. Both
Young and Ford are playing at double A
Arkansas. There is a chance both may
play again at that level in 2025. Depends
on their maturity the rest of the season.
They are still both young.  Cole is 20
while Ford is 21.  With the trading deadline
is at the end of the month one or both
could be traded.

The major league draft starts Sunday
afternoon 4 pm Seattle time. The
Mariners have their first pick at 15
in the first round. They should get a
good choice there. Talk is they might
go for a higher school pitcher which
they haven't done in the first round
since picking Logan Gilbert, George Kirby,
and Bryce Miller who were all college
pitchers.

This draft could decide what prospects
they currently have could be dealt in a
trade before the deadline.
Go.Mariners!

Another Loss Again

The Mariners offense can't be consistent.
They have now lost two in a row against
the Angels on Saturday night 2-1.

The Mariners scored their run in the
first inning where Julio drove in JP
Crawford. The Angels scored their
two runs in the second including a
throwing error by Luke Raley. Only
one run was earned.

Raley has been struggling at the
plate striking g out twice including
having runs on base. The Mariners
were one for eight hitting in scoring
position. Of course that was Julio's.
Had they gotten one more hit they
may have won the game.

George Kirby went six innings. He
walked two which is unusual for
him. He gave up three hits and the
two runs with one earned.

The Mariners started Victor Robles
in left field against a right hander
a little change. He had three of the
Mariners six hits. Robles should be
in the lineup again.l would start Clase as well. Putting Ryan Bliss in at second
as well. The Angels haven't named their
starter yet.
Go Mariners

Mariners Lose In the 10th

Friday's  night game against the LA
Angels the Mariners lost 6-5 in ten
innings. It was one of those games
the Mariners  should have won. I
am sure some fans may say I  am
being picky however they gave the
game away.

The Mariners  did what they don't
always do and that was  to score
early  with Julio Rodriguez hitting
a two-run  homer  in  the first inning.

Bryan Woo  gave up a two-run homer
to Willie Calhoun in the bottom  of
the first inning to tie. The Mariners
took the lead again in the third when
Cal Raleigh  hit a two-run  homer from
the right side  off of former Mariner
Tyler Anderson. Things look good
especially  with scoring four runs.

Woo just couldn't get out of his one
way giving up two runs in the 4th
inning. He gave up a single to Mitch
Haniger in right field to narrow the
lead to one run. Pitching coach Pete
Woodward came out and talked to
Woo for at least second  time in the
game. Woo surrendered the second
run another hit to Haniger to tie. Scott
Servais  took  Woo out.

My objection was why didn't  Servais
take him out before the second run.
Yes the bullpen was going to be used
more than usual. Had Woo not given
that second run up would he have
pitched the 5th inning which might
brought more disaster. Of course
we won't know.

Neither team  scored again until the
10th. Mitch Garver  hit a double to
score Josh Rojas who was the ghost
runner. The Mariners  were unable
to score Garver which turned out to
be the problem.  The odds were pretty
good the Angels  would at least tie the
game.

The Mariners  brought in Austin Voth for
the 10th  inning. As was pointed out he
had never closed out a game before.
The Angels  won the game with Willie
Calhoun  hitting his second two-run
homer. The ball looked like it was in
the  same spot that Woo had thrown.
Calhoun  had only two home runs
coming into the game on the season
so one night he doubled it.  He was
the reason the Angels  won or was it?

George Kirby will start Saturday's game.
See if the Mariners  can win this one.
Logan Gilbert will start Sunday. Though
he will be at the all-star  game  it was
announced that Andre Munoz  would
take his spot. A starter who pitches
on Sunday  are not allowed to pitch
in the all-star  game though they can
attend.

Go Mariners

Seahawks Defensive Line

I believe the Seahawks defensive line
is a key unit for the new defense they
will play.

The Seahawks rushing defense hasn't
been good for several years and we hope
to see a good improvement. Also
every year how the rush will do as well.

Byron Murphy ll the Seahawks number
one pick this year may be all over the
front line though he is listed as left
defensive end.

A full season of Leonard Williams
should help to. He is listed as the
right defensive end. He and Murphy
could see some time at defensive
tackle as well. Jarran Reed is listed
as the starter.

The Seahawks are hoping improvement
of Dre'mont Jones in his second year
on the team. He might be playing some
edge rusher as well. This could depend
on how well Murphy is doing.

The Seahawks new defensive scheme
will tell us a lot about the players
and their success.

Trading camp will be starting soon
The first preseason game is on August
10th at Los Angeles Chargers.
Go Hawks!

Mariners Blast Angels

The Mariners took care of the LA
Angels in the opening game of
the series Thursday.

Final Mariners 11 Angels 0

It is nice the Mariners are winning
opening game of series once again.
If you can do that the odds are good
Zin their favor. It would have been
nice to save runs for other however
we will see.

Luis Castillo went six innings.
He gave up four hits, two walks
while striking out five. He wasn't
in much trouble on the night.
The Mariners used only two
relievers so good for Friday
with Bryan Woo going.

Hitting wise was JP Crawford
and Cal Raleigh were the two
main guys. JP had three hits,
scored three times and drove
in three. Mariners scored four
times in the first inning. Jorge
Polanco had a key hit and had
two hits on the night. Is he back
on track we will see.

Cal again had two home runs one
from each side. Second time.this
season and a couple days. Julio
continued with three hits though
no runs scored or drove in..He
caught a couple nice catches
as well.

Luke Raley and Mitch Haniger
were the only starters not to
get a hit though both each scored
a run. I wonder if both need a
day off.

This is a good way to start a
road trip and going into the
all-star break.  Gregory Santos
didn't pitch in this one. Hope
to see him come in.either Friday
or Saturday.

The Mariners should look at
themselves good being on this
road trip after going 3-6 on the
last home stand. Go team.

Mariners Shutout Padres

It wasn't much of an offensive
explosion however the Mariners
beat the Padres 2-0.

A key to the game was in the second
inning when Julio threw home to
get the final out at home. Who knows
what may have happened if the runner
would have been safe. The Padres may have won.

Bryce Miller had his best outing since
April. He sent six innings giving up
five hits. Bryce didn't walk a batter and
only struck out one.  It took place
in the sixth inning.

Andres Munoz came in the 8th with two
outs. He walked a couple guys however
got out of hit. Munoz he recorded his
15 save on the season.

Lulio.struck out four times however let
his glove do his speaking this time.

Cal Raleigh scored in the second
for the first run. He got in position
by stealing second for his fifth
stolen base on the season.

Jorge Polanco singled in the 4th
inning driving Luke Raley. Polanco
was involved in both scores as he
Was base by a fielding error where
Raleigh scored.

Dominic Canzone went on the injured
list after originally being hurt on
Sunday. Jonatan Clase was recalled
from Tacoma. He didn't see any
action in the game.

Luis Castillo will start Thursday night
against the Angels. Bryan Woo is
expected to start on Friday. George
Kirkby on Saturday and Logan
Gilbert on Sunday.

With the all-star break we will not know yet who will start on next Friday at home.
Go Mariners.

Washington Huskies Football Trading Camp

Next week the Huskies will be be
involved in their first media day
in the Big Ten. Of course there
will be a lot of firsts in joining
the conference.

The media day will start on Tuesday
and go through Thursday. Some news
will come out on ESPN.

How the Huskies first season will
begin with Will Rogers at quarterback.
It will be interesting to see how the
offense looks compared to Michael
Penix Jr. and company. Also to teams
before his arrival.

Under new head coach Jedd Fisch
there maybe some similarities as
well as differences. How much will
it look like the other teams in the
Big Ten.

One thing we do know the Huskies
will go with three wide receivers
now common place in college
football. Most like one running
back in the backfield. You never
know they could throw two backs.
Most likely we would see a tight
end lined in the backfield to block.

The Huskies first game will be on
August 31 against Weber State.
We will do a preview of them
heading into the game. We will
do preview of every Huskies
opponent throughout the season
as well as how they game went.

The Huskies first Big Ten opponent
will be week four against Northwestern
on September 21 a week after the Apple
Cup. They play Michigan at home in
Week 6. We will know how big of a game
it will be.  Go Dawgs!ⁿ

Mariners Look Good Tuesday Night

The Mariners looked like what they
could Tuesday night in San Diego
beating the Padres in game one
in  two game series.

Logan Gilbert was dominant for
the most part going 7 and 2-3
innings. He gave up three runs on
four hits and two home runs.
The two Nome runs happened in
the seventh and eighth innings.

Julio and Cal Raleigh were the
hitters for the most part. Julio
was 4-4 including a home run
and a double. He scored three
times. He left late in the game
to keep him healthy.

Cal had two two-run homers
one from the left side and
the second from the right.
Cal hit a double as well and
came home on a double
by Victor Robles.  He came
in for Canzone who had to
leave with an injury.

Final Mariners 8 Padres 3

Tayler Saucedo took over and
got the final out in the eighth.
inning. Gregory Santos who
was activated Monday made
his Mariners debut in the 9th.
The second batter had hit
with a bounce to Polanco.
The third batter hit into a
game inning double play.
Santos looked sharp. He
threw only 13 pitches with
8 being strikes. No hits, no
walks or strike outs. Could
see him again tomorrow
depending how the game goes.
Go Mariners!

Seahawks Wide Receivers

I expect the Seahawks wide receivers
have a better season in 2024.

Ryan Grubb should be able to be
creative with the starting three.
I expect DK Metcalf will have more
catches then he has had before
in Seattle.

DK will be a restricted free agent
after the season. It will be incentive
to get him the ball more frequently.
Tyler Lockett might be slowing
down however using his strengths
will help. The Seahawks may go
with the running game a lot however
the passing game can be more
effective this way.

Jaxon Smitb-Njigba in his second
season may end up.the Seahawks
second receiver. We will what
strengths Grubb will use. We hope
to see more out of the right end
position as well.

Jake Bobo had a good as a rookie
college free agent. See what is
stored up with him. The Seahawks
have Dee Eldridge to.  He has had
injuries during his Seahawks career.
There is thought he will play special
teams as punt returner and kick
offs. Whether they have fix it six
receivers we will see.  Go Hawks!

Logan Gilbert Makes All-star

Logan Gilbert was named as one
of the pitchers on the all-star team.

At this point he is the only Mariners
on the team. Thought Andre Munoz
would be as well. He wasn't named
however could go as an alternate.

No surprise that any position player
didn't make it. We could see Julio
in the home run derby though he isn't
having a good year in that department
either. He would be a draw though.

Logan Gilbert has a 5-5 record in 18
games started. The lack of offense
his record would be much better.
Logan has a 2.91 era. He has the most
quality starts of any pitcher. The
Mariners can count on him going
seven innings often.

We wish Logan the best All-star game.

Mariners Blow Sunday game

Sunday's game down to home runs
and they couldn't do more.

Robles hit a home run to get the
Mariners on the board. Mitch Garver
ended up hitting a three-run homer.
The Blue Jays tied with s three-run
homer themselves. The Mariners had
other opportunities to win.

The Blue Jays scored a run in the
top of the 10th however the M's
couldn't even tie though they had
a runner on third as well as second.

Final Blue Jays 5 Mariners 4

Can't say anything more.

Saturday, July 6, 2024

Mariners Lose Saturday Afternoon

It was another hard day at the
office for the Mariners. They
were  only able to get one hit
until the 8th inning.

Final Blue Jays 5 Mariners 4

Pitching it was like a bullpen day.
Emerson Hancock started and
able to go only four innings. He
gave up two runs. Trent Thornton
gave up a run in the seventh.
Michael Baumann gave up two
in the eighth.

The Mariners bounced back in
the 8th when Mitch Haniger
hit a three run homer.  Ty France
led off the 9th with a fly out.
Luke Raley hit a homer to right
field. Had Ty found a way to get
on base it would have been a
tie instead of a loss and extra
who knows.

Two spots the leadoff hitter is
the most important is leading
off the game and in the ninth
when they are behind.

Now see Sunday if they can
take the series. George Kirby
starts for them.

Julio Rodriguez had to leave
the game in the first inning
with a stiff quad. We hope he
can be back on Sunday.

The Mariners are on the road
next week beginning on Tuesday.
After two games at San Diego
they have four against the Angels
in Anaheim. The all-star break
is after that. Go.Mariners!

Mariners Edge Out Blue Jays

With a lot of Blue Jays fans
at T-Mobile Park the Mariners
won 2-1.

Luis Castillo went six and two-thirds
inning. He was pitching a no hitter
when he gave up a home run for the
Jays only run of the game. The Jays
did get a few runners on base however
the Mariners did it once again.

The Mariners scored their two runs
on a double by Luke Raley with two
outs in the third. Cal Raleigh was the
only one with two hits scoring the
first run ahead of Julio.

Saturday afternoon Emerson Hancock
will start for the Mariners. We see what
he can do. Go Mariners!

Washington Huskies Football Defense

Under new head coach Jedd Fisch
we expect the Huskies to have a
good offense. Most likely won't match
last season. Have to figure an offense
like that comes maybe once a decade
or so.
I hope to see an improvement to the
Huskies defense this year. Hard to know
at this time. Last year the Huskies defense
wasn't great against the run or the pass.
At least in the first half. They made
adjustments at halftime and look more
what we would be like to see throughout
the game. The most important they
made key stops especially in the 4th
quarter. I would rather see that then
the defense look good for three quarters
then lapse in the fourth quarter.

The Huskies will have some new pieces
on defense after graduations and transfers.
There are several key players returning to.

Returning at weak and middle linebacker
will be Alphonso Tuputala and Carson
Bruener who have a lot of experience
both being seniors.

Kamren Fabiculanan another senior who
has played a lot as a defensive back will
start at strong safety. At right cornerback
will be Elijah Jackson who started a lot
last season.

The defense lineman will be new as
transfers. Only starter on the line
here already is Jacob Banded at
defensive tackle. Over time we will
look at the new guys who will play.

During the season we will review
the Huskies opponent as well tge.
highlights of the game. We wish the
Huskies great success. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Have A Spark

The Mariners beat the Orioles
for the first win of July 7-3.

Bryce Miller went five and a third
innings giving up two runs on a
homer to all-star shorstop starter
Gunnar Henderson in the third
inning. The Mariners tie the game.
in the fifth inning with Julio Rodriguez
hitting a solo home run. Ryan Bliss
hit into a double play however Ty
France scored.

Julio had one of his best games of
the season. Manager Scott Servais
thinks this could be a big start for
him. If so the Mariners could go
on a good win streak. The Astros
are breathing down the Mariners
so this might be good news.

In the 7th the Mariners loaded
the bases.  JP Crawford hit a
double clearing the bases. Mitch
Garver hit a homer run giving
the Mariners five runs.  In the
8th Gunnar Henderson hit a
double scoring  the final run
for the Orioles.

The Mariners begin a three
game series to finish the
homestead against the Toronto
Blue Jays. Toronto usually
having a lot of fans coming
down from British Columbia.
This likely won't be any different.

The Blue Jays are struggling this
season being at the bottom
of the American League East.
The Mariners have a good
chance in this series. A lot of
noise to with talks about trades
including having one with the
Blue Jays.

Luis Castillo is scheduled to
start on Friday night.  The
Mariners don't have anyone
scheduled to start on Saturday
as of yet. George Kirby has
been named for Sunday. I
would have thought the
Mariners would have kept
in order going with Kirby on
Saturday. Had the Mariners
done so they wouldn't need
a fifth starter until after the
all-star break.

The Mariner have another off day
on Monday. With Kirby going
on Sunday the Mariners will
have to make a move to start
someone. My educated guess
it will be Emerson Hancock.
Bryan Woo is expected to take
rehab assignment soon.
Go M's.

Orioles Beat Mariners Again

Logan Gilbert didn't have his
usual outstanding pitching.
Even the best starting pitcher
will struggle once in a while.

The Orioles scored three runs
in the third inning and another
in the fifth off Gilbert. He went
five and one-third innings. It
wasn't a good outing for him.
I woukd take this from Gilbert
since the last time he gave up
four runs was on May 30.

The Mariners bullpen did a
great job with three relievers
the rest of the way. No hits
or walks and no runs of course.

The Mariners offense continues
to struggle as they only scored
one run and that was a homer
by Cal Raleigh his 15th off the
season. He leads all Mariners
in home runs.

Final Orioles 4 Mariners 1

The Mariners had five hits in
the game. Some good news
Mitch Garver pinch hit for
Josh Rojas in the 8th inning
and had a single. Normally
I would say why pinch hit
for Rojas again when he
has the highest average
in the lineup. Rojas average
is .257 compared to Garver's
.176. I am sure you can do
the math. The only reason
I would use Garver in this
spot was the Mariners needed
a spark. I am not that is Servais
reason however that would have
been mine.

Thursday's game is in the afternoon
with Bryce Miller on the mound.
He hasn't pitched well of late so
we hope to see a better result from
him. The most important though
the bats come alive.

Servais has moved the lineup
around to see anything can
change. So far nothing has
changed.

I would say to stop platooning
at third, left and right field.
I could see bringing in a right
handed hitter into the lineup
on occasion depending when
the last time the Mariners were
facing a lefty. I would like them
to start Rojas, Canzone and Raley
four games a week. They could
start Dylan Moore in one game
against a lefty but leave Canzone
and Raley in. Another game Rojas
would start and Haniger would
start in right. I would even like
Haniger and Victor Robles in
the lineup against a righty. Again
this would depend how Canzone
and Raley are hitting.. The opposing
team knows how the Mariners operate
so a change would be nice. Go Mariners!

Seahawks Defense

As training camp comes soon
not only will be seeing what
the Seahawks offense will
look under Ryan Grubb we
have to see  Michael Macdonald
defense looks like.

Though I am not a follower of
what Macdonald did with the
Ravens and the Michigan
Wolverines before that I am
going to search back and see
how it went. I will give info
what I find. I am sure the
preseason will give us some
idea though it will be seeing
the backups a good part of
the time.

The last few years under Pete
Carroll we didn't see a lot of
the starters in the preseason
games. I thought it might be
different in game three but
it wasn't. I wonder getting off
to slow start wasn't helped not
playing any preseason games

With Mike Macdonald we could
see more of the starters in the
preseason. Have the reserves
and those trying to make the
squad in the second half.

The Seahawks defense we have
to see an improvement stopping
the running game. Much like
their rushing offense they were
one of the worst in the NFL.

Having Leonard Williams for
the whole season and first round
pick Bryon Murphy 2 should see
more and Mike Macdonald scheme
be different to. Having Jarran Reed
in the middle though Williams
and Murphy there we can hope for
good things.

Dre'Mont Jones didn't have a good
first year however the Seahawks
hope for better things. Though listed
as defensive end they are expected
to see him at edge rusher some of
the time too. Boye Mafe beginning
his third season the Seahawks
are hoping for greater things.
Uchenna Nwosu other edge rusher
only played six games last year.
The Seahawks hope for a good
return this season. The Seahawks
have Darrell Taylor as well. He will
have to need good camp to get
playing time or be on the team.
We hope the best for him. Derick
Hall second round pick Seahawks
had last year we hope improvement
from him in year two.

The Seahawks will have two new
starting inside linebackers this
year. They will be important to
stopping the run as well.Right
now is keeping them healthy.
They drafted Tyrice Knight
this year in the 4th round.
Have to see how this rookie
does. He could be important.

Devin Witherspoon  last year's
first pick and the Seahawks best
defensive player is expected to
start at nickel back. He will be
all over the field and be used
wherever needed.

Riq Woolen and Michael Jackson
are slated as the two cornerbacks.
They both didn't have good seasons
last year for the most part. They
will need to play better or their
playing time will be cut down.

Julian Love returns at free safety
where he had a good season last
year. We hope for the same or
better. Rayshawn Jenkins comes
over from Jacksonville to be
strong safety.

We hope the best. If the Seahawks
improve to be in the top half in
the NFL on defense making the
playoffs should happen.

Enjoy your summer and we hope
for a good fall and winter.

I know there are several sites
that cover the Seahawks and
I hope this will be one of them.
Thank you!

Mariners Are Shut out

The Mariners had their opportunities
especially late in the game although
Josh Rojas had their only two hits.

George Kirby went six and a third innings.
He gave up seven hits and two runs.
He was the Mariners pitcher of the
and deserved better results.

The Mariners hitters didn't do
well except Rojas until late in
the game. They were able to
get on base but couldn't get
anyone home.  Interesting the
Mariners pinched hit for Rojas
with Dylan Moore facing a lefty.

In the ninth the Mariners were
able to get two runners on.walks.
Cal just missed a home run with
the ball going slightly foul. He
struck out on.the next pitch.

I know many questioned though
Servais has been doing that all
season for either Rojas or Raley
or Canzone.  The Mariners had
two runners on base. With a wild
pitch Julio came up with a runner
on second and third with two outs.
All Julio had to do was hit a single
to tie the gsme but he struck out
to end the game. Julio was moved
down to seventh in the order so
the perfect spot to do some damage.

Wednesday night Logan Gilbert takes
the mound. Hopefully the Mariners
can turn things around. The good
thing the Astros lost so they are still
thee games ahead.  Go Mariners!

Seattle Kraken Makes Move

Yes I know don't do a lot
on the Kraken however
here goes.

Over the weekend was the
NHL draft. They took several
centers including the first
two picks.

Free agency began after the
drafted ended. So far the Kraken
have signed two free agents.
After having a disappointed
season this last one and bringing
in a new coach they seem to be
pretty serious in getting better.
This was after making the playoffs
in their second season and having
a good run.

The first signing was defenseman
Brandon Montour who was considered
the top one in free agency at his
position. The Kraken signed him
for seven years for $50 million.
He has been in the NHL for eight
years. Looks like a good deal to
playing for the Stanley Cup champions
the Florida Panthers.

The second signing was center
Chandler Stephenson to a seven
year deal about $44 million.
Chandler had played the last
four years with division rival
the Vegas Golden Knights.
This looks like another good
deal.  The Kraken with several
centers will have a lot of challenge
there for sure.

Besides the veteran signings and
not sure they are done they have
the players from the minor league
system who want to make a splash
to.

The excitement should be about
the Kraken returning to the playoffs
and we hope the Stanley Cup final
real soon. Go Kraken!

Washington State Cougars Football

Anyone who knows about the Cougars
it now down  to the Pac-2 with them
and the Oregon State Beavers. At this
point no one knows whether the
Conference expands or the two
teams join another conference. They
may have it figured out in the next year
or two or figured out for them.

The Beavers lost their head coach to
Michigan State and many of them
have transferred too. The Cougars
still have their head coach and many players to though top players did
transfer to. I heard recently that the
teams will be able to psy their players
besides the NIL. How that will work
for the Cougars as well as the Beavers
we will find out. This won't be for
football but all the sport teams though football will get the high percentage.
More news will come out on that too.

The Cougars will start with a  new
quarterback. The number one quarterback
listed right now is John Mateer a redshirt
sophomore.  Backing him up is Zevi Eckhaus a senior from Bryant out of
the Big South. He was first team last
year so we see if he steps up.

The offense line looks experience
so we will see how that goes. Playing
against Mountain West school for
the most of the games we will see.
How we determine will be seen at the
beginning of the seen including
playing the Huskies in Lumen Field
in Seattle.  We may know how the
Huskies are doing going into the
Big Ten as well the Cougars in their
competition. This should be interesting
fall for sure. I hope success for both
teams.

At running back expected to start Djouvensky Schlenbaker a redshirt
sophomore. He  played in 12 games
with only 33 carries for 146. His
backup is expected to be redshirt
freshman Leo Pulalasi.

The Cougars will go again with
three wide receivers. At one receiver
soot will be sophomore Carlos
Hernandez who had 24 receptions
for 258 yards.  The most experienced
is Kyle Williams who had 61 catches
for 842 yards and six touchdowns.
We could see more this year as a
senior. The third receiver is Kris
Hutson a senior transfer from
Oregon. He played limited having
only one catch as a junior. Had
a good year as a sophomore.

The Cougars have three receivers
who transfers this season to them.
Will let you know about them later.

At right end will be Cooper Mather's
a senior out of Odea high school
in Seattle.. He played in ten games
with 21 receptions for 251 yards
and one touchdown.

We will look at the defense next
time on the  Cougars.

Seahawks Lose Again
