futures game coming ahead before the
all-star game on Tuesday. The National
League won 6-1. They had seven hits
including two home runs.
Mariners top prospect Cole Young
started at second base for the
American League. He had one of
their five hits. Cole is currently batting
.262 with a .352 on base percentage.
He has seven home runs and 35
RBIs. Striking out at 18% rate. Has
14 stolen bases. Whether he will
be ready for the majors next year
we will see.
Catcher Harry Ford played as well.
He was a dh and walked once. Ford
is batting .253 however has an excellent
.376 on base percentage. He is striking
out at high rate just under 25% of the time.
This is especially high for someone
who hss only five home runs. Both
Young and Ford are playing at double A
Arkansas. There is a chance both may
play again at that level in 2025. Depends
on their maturity the rest of the season.
They are still both young. Cole is 20
while Ford is 21. With the trading deadline
is at the end of the month one or both
could be traded.
The major league draft starts Sunday
afternoon 4 pm Seattle time. The
Mariners have their first pick at 15
in the first round. They should get a
good choice there. Talk is they might
go for a higher school pitcher which
they haven't done in the first round
since picking Logan Gilbert, George Kirby,
and Bryce Miller who were all college
pitchers.
This draft could decide what prospects
they currently have could be dealt in a
trade before the deadline.
Go.Mariners!
