Mariners Take Second Game

It wasn't easy however the
Mariners beat Atlanta Braves
Tuesday night 3-2.

It was another one of those close
games that could have been a loss.
The Mariners are showing how tough
they are.

The Mariners had another quality
start where Luis Castillo went
seven innings giving up only three
hits  while walking one batter and
striking out seven. Castillo seems
more on track now winning his
third straight game after losing
his first four games.

Ryne Stanek who has been struggling
at times coming out of the bullpen
was only able to get one out while
giving up three hits and two runs
in the eighth inning.

Andre Munoz was able to shut the
door though he gave up a hit and
a walk while getting five outs. He
was able to strike out three batters
including former Mariners outfielder
Jarred Kelenic for the final out of
the game. I am sure Kelenic wasn't
too happy.

The Mariners scored the first two
runs in the third inning when Jorge
Polanco hit a two-run homer in
the third inning. Polanco though
struggling at the plate has done
well as of late. It was the 4th home
run on the season for him.

The Mariners scored another run
in the 4th when Dylan Moore hit
a double with two outs scoring
Mitch Haniger. Josh Rojas who
walked when Polanco hit the home
run did so again. Julio Rodriquez
came up with the bases loaded
grounded out to end the inning.
Julio has had some trouble with
runners on base. This was the best
chance for the Mariners to add
more runs too.

This was the first time of the season
where the Braves lost two games in
a row. The last team in the majors
to do so on the season.

The Mariners now end April with
a record of 17-13. The Rangers
are still one game behind them
beating the Washington Nationals
in Texas 7-1.

The Mariners and the Braves play
Wednesday afternoon with Emerson
Hancock on the mound. Bryan Woo
was in the dugout so he will likely
be activated soon.  Tomorrow may
decide who may be in the rotation.

In other local sports news the Kraken
fired head coach David Hastol after
a very disappointing season on Monday.
According to ESPN several Kraken
platers said they would not play for
Hastol again. These were players
that had significant roles on the
team. It could take the Kraken a
month or two to hire a new coach.
We will see.

Mariners Win In Walkoff Fashion

Bryce Miller looked like
he was going to pitch
a no hitter going into
the 7th and Atlanta
Braves starter looked
the same through seven
innings.

Miller gave up a double
in the seventh to right
field where Ronald Acuna Jr.
scored. Bryce gave up
two hits  in seven innings
while walking one and striking
out ten. He is certainly one
of the top pitchers this season.

The Mariners were able to
load the bases in the 8th
inning however couldn't
score. In the bottom of
the 9th Jorge Polanco singled.
On a 3-2 count Mitch Garver
hit a home run into upper deck
of left field.

Mariners win another opening
game of a series. So important
to win a series. Luis Castillo
will start Tuesday night. Emerson
Hancock will start Thursday
afternoon. Go M's.

Mariners Unable To Sweep Arizona

Arizona Diamonbacks beat Mariners
Sunday 3-2.

Mariners got another great quality
start out of Logan Gilbert however it
wasn't enough.  He went six and
one-third innings before tiring.Gilbert
only gave up four hits which included
a home run to Christian Walker in
the second inning.  Only walked one
batter while striking out nine.

Josh Rojas again hit a home run
leading off the first inning. In the
third inning shortstop Leo Rivas
in his major league debut hit a triple.
He ended up scoring on single by
Julio Rodriguez. The Mariners loaded
the bases with no outs however were
unable to score anymore runs. The
Mariners may have won right there.

The Diamondbacks tied in the seventh.
In the a ball hit in direction of Mitch
Haniger who had pinch hit in the 7th
scored in the 8th. The Mariners were
not able to get anyone else on base
for 20 straight appearances.

The Mariners now take on the Atlanta
Braves at home beginning on Monday
in a three game series. Bryce Miller
will start. We hope he will respond
with a good pitching performance.
He will be followed by Luis Castillo
Tuesday evening and Emerson
Hancock Wednesday afternoon.

The Mariners will go to Houston
to face the Astros next weekend.
Go Mariners!

Mariners Win Again

The Seattle Mariners are playing
good ball especially on the pitching
side. Though not a  lot of runs they
are timely.

George Kirby pitched another great
game as the starters are doing well
right now.  Kirby went seven innings
giving up two hits, walked one, struck
out 12 Diamondbacks and no runs.

Mariners 3 Diamondbacks 1

It was quite the pitching matchup.
The Mariners scored their first run
in the fifth inning when Luke Raley
hit a single to drive in dh Mitch Garver
who had a double.  The Mariners
got their other two runs when Ty France
hit a home run after Jorge Polanco
had walked.

The Diamondbacks got their lone run
Jake McCarthy hit a triple driving
in Blaze Alexander off of Ryne Stanek
in the 8th inning. Andre Munoz pitched
the 9th without giving up a hit and
struck out one.

Logan Gilbert looks to pitch a gem
on Sunday and sweep Arizona. The
Atlanta Braves come to town on
Monday. The Texas Rangers lost
Saturday so the Mariners are one
and a half games on them. We hope
the pitching continues well and
timely hitting too. Go M's

Round 4 thru 7 NFL draft

The Seattle Seahawks first pick in the 4th round was linebacker Tyrice Knight out
UTEP.  He was the 18th pick in round 4.
Knight stayed healthy starting all 37 games. Last year he led the FBS with
84 solo tackles. Bobby Wagner and
Jordynn Brooks are gone. The Seahawks
signed free agents Tyrel Dodson and
Jerome Baker during the offseason
so right now Knight would be listed as the
third linebacker. I am sure Knight is the
kind of linebacker coach Michael Macdonald is looking for.

At the 21st pick of the 4th round the Seahawks drafted tight end AJ Barner
out of Michigan.  Barner played two years
at Indiana before transferring to Michigan for his senior season. He says he will do whatever the Seahawks need him to do.
He I'd now the third tight end on the Seahawks.

Jaden Hicks was the first WSU  Cougar
taken in the draft by the Kansas City
Chiefs as a defensive back. He was the
33rd pick in the 4th round. Another Cougar
defensive end Brennan Jackson was picked #19 in the fifth round by the Los Angeles
Rams. A third Cougar Chau Smith-Wade
another defensive back was taken by the
Carolina Panthers as the 22nd pick in the
Fifth round.

Edefuan Ulofoshio was the first Huskies player taken on Saturday. The linebacker
was picked #25 in the fifth round by the
Buffalo Bills. His teammate Dominic
Hampton was picked right after him
by the Washington Commanders.

That was it for round  five as far Cougars
and Huskies go.

The Seahawks drafted cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett as the 36th pick
in the fifth round. The Seahawks have
had the history of picking up some
good players in the fifth round. Out
of Auburn Pritchett right now would
be counted on as depth if he makes
the team.

The first pick by the Seahawks in the sixth round is offensive lineman Sataoa Laumea
from Utah. He played both right tackle
and guard. The Seahawks most likely
see him as depth at the guard position
however could play tackle if necessary
but guard will be where he seems his
time at.

The second pick for the Seahawks at
number 16 in the  sixth round is DJ
James another cornerback out of
Auburn.  Known for his speed he just
needs to be more consistent in making
tackles.

The Seahawks traded a fourth round pick
to the Denver Broncos adding a fifth rounder which happen to be Nehemiah Pritchett. Also added a third six rounder
and sending their seventh rounder to
the Broncos. Seahawks always find a
way to pick up at least one additional
player in the draft. Denver was able to get
the Seahawks fourth rounder that was the
second pick of that round.

The Seahawks #31 pick in the sixth round they picked in the trade with Denver.  They went for offensive lineman is Michael
Jerell from Findlay University. He to is
expected to be a backup at guard.

The question will all the players drafted
make the Seahawks roster for 2024. The
three picked in the sixth round would
be considered as backups.

Devin Culp one of the Huskies tight ends
was the last  Washington player drafted
by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the
7th round. Fellow tight Jack Westover
is expected to sign a undrafted free agent
contract with the Seattle Seahawks. A
walkons at Washington Westover knows how to show his skills and try to see
whether he makes into the NFL.  Culp
on the other hand will join former Husky
tight end Cade Otton  with Tampa Bay
along with wide receiver Jalen McMillan.

Running back Dillon Johnson who had
a good season with the Huskies is
expected to sign a free agent deal
with the Tennessee Titans.

We will follow up the days ahead who else
from Washington and Washington State
who might sign as free agents. Also any
familiar names who may sign with the
Seahawks.

Mariners Win Opener At Home In New Series

The Seattle Mariners beat Arizona
Friday night in the series opener.

Josh Rojas leading off hit the first
pitch in the bottom of the first.
Mitch Garver who is struggling so
far with the Mariners hit a home
run in the 2nd inning. The score 2-0
stayed that way until the top of
the sixth inning when Diamondbacks
Kevin Newman hit a home run off
Emerson Hancock making it 2-1.

The Mariners who haven't done well
most of the season so far in the
sixth inning or later received a grand
slam off of Mitch Haniger's bat.

It is sure nice to have Haniger back
this month. Haniger batting is so so
at .244  however we could see it go
higher. He now has four home runs
and 18 RBIs which is real good for
the month.  He leads the Mariners
in RBIs.

Cal Raleigh by the way leads the
Mariners in home runs with six
and second in RBIs.

Josh Rojas leads with .316 average
and Julio is now at .284. Though he
only has one home run he is third
with 10 RBIs. Wait until he gets real
hot.

The Rangers won beating the Cincinnati
Reds at home  2-1 so still a half game
behind the Mariners. Go team!

Day Two Of NFL Draft

The NFL on Friday evening is round 2

In the second round the New England
Patriots draft Huskies wide receiver
Ja'Lynn Polk as the fifth pick. Polk who was a transfer to the Huskies was listed as their third wide receiver going into 2023 season.
Injury to Jalen McMillan against Michigan
State in game three made Polk more
valuable and he took advantage of it.

Near the end of the second round right
tackle Roger Rosengarten was drafted
by the Baltimore Ravens. He is expected
to start for them.

Now we start onto the third round. It will
be a little bit of time before before the Seahawks pick since it  will be the 81st overall. This will be only pick Friday
unless they trade up or down. On
Saturday they have two fourth round
picks, two sixth and one in the seventh.
Don't expect these be the same. Will
the Seahawks draft an offensive lineman
in the third round? We will see.

The Seahawks did draft Christian
Haynes a guard from Connecticut
the other Huskies. He is expected
to start on the offensive line.

With the 10th pick in the third round
Bralen Trice was taken. He is listed
as defensive end however could play
edge rusher if he is fast enough.

Near the end  of Friday night the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted
another Husky. With the 28 pick
of the third round Jalen McMillan
was drafted. The wide receiver
would have been drafted higher
if he hadn't been hurt and missed
much of the season.

Saturday will be the 4th through
the seventh round. The Seahawks
will have five picks going into it.
See if they add picks or not. Also
we will see who the Seahawks
will sign as college free agents as
well. It will be interesting how many
Huskies will be drafted on Saturday.
Also if any Cougar is drafted or
sign as a free agent.

First Night of NFL Draft

The first three picks were expected
to be quarterbacks and they were.
Michael Penix Jr.  was the fourth one
taken as the #8 overall pick in the
first round.  Penix was drafted by the
Atlanta Falcons. We will look forward
to see how he does.

The following pick at #9 was another
Washington Huskies wide receiver Rome
Odunze picked by the Chicago Bears.
This means Rome will be catching balls
from the number  1 overall quarterback
Caleb Williams from USC. They may become quite the pair one day.

The Seattle Seahawks at #16 picked
defefensive tackle Byron Murphy 2
from Texas. He likely play nose tackle
for the Seahawks. We will see how that
goes. He was the second defensive
player taken in the draft.  The first
14 were offensive players.

Troy Fautanu was the third Husky
to be draft at #20. He may play guard
or at left tackle. We will have to see.

That was it for the first round
of the Washington Huskies and
the Seahawks first pick.

Tomorrow evening will be round
two and three.

Mariners Take Series In Texas

The Seattle Mariners took the series
beating the Rangers Wednesday
afternoon.

Luis Castillo had some struggles
throwing a lot of pitches however
made it through.  The bullpen di
their job though it was tight in
4-3 win.

The Mariners winning close games
again. The four runs were on a
two run home runs by Ty France
and Luis Urias. Like it to be different
however it is what is.

The Mariners are back again in
first place. JP Crawford went on
the injured list. Dylan Moore is
likely to play shortstop while JP
is out. At least against lefties.

Next up will be the Arizona Diamondbacks
at home.

Later we will.find out how the Seahawks
do in the NFL draft. Go Hawks!

Rangers Beat Mariners Wednesday Evening

The Mariners were in first place
for one day. We hope it won't be
the last for the season.

The Mariners lost 5-1

It wasn't a good game for them
in several ways. JP Crawford was
scratched a little before the game
with right oblique soreness. How
long he will miss we don't know.

The Mariners decided to have Josh
Rojas lead off in the game.  He started
out well hitting a triple. I am sure
most fans thought it would be a good
game.  Mitch Haniger drove in Rojas
on a fielders choice. Rojas also had
another hit.

Ty France and Dylan Moore who playe
in for Crawford had two hits. Unfortunately
the Mariners couldn't get more runs with
those hits. Haniger had a double in
the game but the Mariners couldn't take
advantage of it either.

Bryce Miller couldn't copy his last
outing this time in his home state.
He was only able to go four innings.
Miller gave up only four hits however
walked four. He gave up two home
runs that were back to back in the
4th inning.  He threw 83 pitches.

Tayler Saucedo gave up a run though
no hits but a walk in one and one-third
innings. Tyson Miller went two-thirds
of the inning coming in for Saucedo.
He gave up a hit however a run scored
on an error so not earned. The same
went with Austin Voth who went two
innings had an unearned run as well.

You may wonder why Cal Raleigh
didn't play on Wednesday. He had
to have oral surgery and have a tooth
removed. We hope he will be able
to catch Thursday afternoon game.

Luis Castillo starts Thursday and we
hope he can do the same as he did
in his last outing and that is winning.
Coming home taking two out of three
in Texas after doing the same in
Colorado will be sweet.

Thursday evening we will see who
the Seahawks draft whether in the
16th spot or elsewhere in the 1st
round. We will see what Huskies
will be drafted in the  first round.
Will one stay put and be a Seahawk.
Stay tuned.

Seahawks Tuesday

The Seahawks  are still working
and looking forward  to  the  NFL
draft.

Though general  manager John
Schneider is in charge  I am  sure
new head coach Michael Macdonald
will be right there as well.

I am not into doing mock drafts
and there are plenty  of  places
to view them  if that is your cup
of tea.

The draft  will begin Thursday
evening. The Mariners  will have
any early afternoon  game since
they have to fly home for a Friday
game. This means we will  have
attention  to the draft.

The draft begins 5 pm Pacific time.
The Seahawks  have the 16th pick
in the first round. There is a good
chance they will trade down like
they have done before.

I  am  sure  a lot of fans would like
the Seahawks draft Michael Penix Jr
from University  of  Washington.

Though it would be nice to  get Penix
the Huskies could use drafting an
offensive lineman  in the first round.

Friday is day two, so 2nd and 3rd
round will happen beginning The same
time.

Saturday will be round 4 thru 7. This will
begin in the morning.

The Washington  Huskies  should have
a lot of players from 2023 season to be
drafted. It will be interesting  to  see
where wide receiver Rome Odunze is
picked. He should go way before the
Seahawks  draft.

Stay tuned and let you know how things
go for the Seahawks  and Huskies. Also
any players from Washington  State though
not many are expected  to  be picked.

Everett and Modesto M's Farm Teams Update

This year the Everett Aqua Sox are
struggling as  they don't have the
top prospects as in years past.
They are currently 4-11 and last in
the Northwest league.

Ben Williamson who is the only top prospect playing third base. At this
point hard to tell who will be the
Mariners future third baseman however
he seems at this time wanting to be
the guy.

Right now Williamson is the Mariners
#16 prospect. At Everett he leads
with an average of .343. He has only
one he run though leads with 11 RBIs.

On the pitching side #13 prospect
Michael Morales has started three
games with 1-0 record and an era
of 2.60.

The Modesto Nuts are doing well being
10-3 and tied for first place in the
California league. This is where majority
of the Mariners prospects are right.
We could see some moving to Everett
by summer time.

Outfielder Lazaro Montes is hitting
.260 at Modesto. Nice is at the plate
he is walking more than striking out.
Hope to see his average going up
over the weeks ahead.

#6 prospect outfielder Jonny Carmelo
is hitting only .222. This is his first
professional season. He has three home
runs however has been struck out 17
times compared to nine walks.

#7 Tai Peete infielder is hitting .273
however striking out a lot as well.

#9 infielder Michael Arroyo is hitting
.255 though has a nice on base
 percentage of .350.

#14 outfielder Auden Smith is hitting
.271 and has outstanding on base
percentage of .375.  He has three
home runs in 12 games.

#26 pitcher Brody Hopkins is the
highest prospect as far as pitching
goes at Modesto. He has only started
two games with an era of 5.40.
At this point his future doesn't look
bright but never know.

When this years draft comes up who
comes into the top ten prospects
and who drops down.

We will look at triple A again as well
as double A in our next update. We
will do so in the beginning of May.

Mariners Take Series on Sunday

We would have thought the Mariners
would have won game one with Kirby starting however neither team did
a lot scoring.

Game 2 the Mariners won 10-2.
The Rockies scored the two runs
in the bottom of the first that
included an error. The Mariners
followed by scoring six runs
in the second inning.  The first run
happened when Luis Urias was hit
by a pitch with bases loaded.

Catcher Seby Zavala had his first
hit of the season that was hit sharply
to left field  scoring Jorge Polanco.
JP Crawford hit the longest ball of
the season 424 ft that ended to be
a triple allowing three more runs.
He ended up just missing a grand
slam home run. JP ended up scoring
as well on a wild pitch.

In the sixth inning Cal Raleigh hit a
two run homer and in all three runs
that inning. Julio had a single to
score Zavala right before Cal's
homer.

The Mariners scored the final run
where JP came in Cal's sacrifice
fly.

Wouldn't it have been nice if a few
runs were done in game one.

The Mariners are now 11-11 and
a half game behind the Rangers
they play starting on Tuesday.
We see what happens coming up.

The Los Angeles Angels have lost
four straight and are two games
behind the Mariners. Oakland is
one game behind the Angels.
I am sure everyone is happy the
Houston Astros is one and a
half behind the A's. They are
7-16.

The Astros take on the Chicago
Cubs starting Tuesday then the
Rockies in Colorado next weekend.
See more snow maybe.

Go Mariners!

Sunday Game 1 Mariners

The Mariners had opportunities to
win Sunday in the first game
however lost in ten innings 2-1
after unusual ninth inning ended
with a 0-0 score.

It looked like the Rockies were
going to win in the bottom of
the 9th however a fan was charged
with interference so the batter
was called out.  The Mariners
scored a run when JP Crawford
drove in Polanco in the top
of the 10th unfortunately the
the Rockies scored twice for
a walkoff. An infield hit to
JP Crawford scoring the second
run. JP couldn't make the play
though a good chance the runner
may have scored anyway.

Both teams left runners in scoring
position. If it wasn't for some great
plays by Dylan Moore who started
at second the Rockies likely would
have won in regulation time.

The Mariners had six hits on the
day. Julio was the only one with
two hits. He was called out trying to
steal second base after he took off
really early on the pitcher. This was
after Crawford was called out going
to third. Both were good opportunities
though each runner was called out.

Mitch Haniger and Josh Rojas each
had a hit along with Dylan Moore.
The Rockies had ten hits on the
day.

George Kirby went five innings
throwing a lot of putches. He gave
up five hits in five innings. Andre
Munoz was the one who struggled
in the 10th and recorded his 2nd
loss.

We will let you know how game
two will go this evening. Emerson
Hancock will start. We hope he
goes at least five though the Mariners
have Monday off and be at Texas
for three games. Go M's.

Castillo Wins His First Of Season

Most of us figure Luis Castillo would
win his first game of 2024 before this.
Saturday evening in what was supposed
to be the second game in Denver instead
the first one of the series instead.

M The game did have some snow flurries
however they wanted to get the game in.
Luis had his four seam fastball working
as he threw about 65% of his pitches
with it.

Luis was able to go seven innings with
a comfortable lead. He gave up two
hits while walking one and striking.out
nine. The batters that were not a walk,
two hits and nine hits were five groundouts
and five fly outs to even it. We hope to
see more of this version of Luis the rest
of the season. He nows is 1-4.

The final score was Mariners winning
7-0. The Mariners scored single runs
in the second, third, fourth innings then
had four in the fifth.

The Mariners first run in the second
was on a Cal Raleigh home run. The
only home run of the game which is
a good sign. The Mariners were back
to their basics. Cal Raleigh had four
hits on the night and drove in another
one as well as scoring a second run.

The great thing in this game was Julio
had four hits as well. He scored a run
on one of Cal's hits and drove in two
runs. He had two stolen bases. We hope
this is the beginning of the real Julio.

Ty France had two hits and scored a
run. It was nice to see him get some
hits after a short slump.

Jonatan Clase had two runs batted in
the fifth inning. The Mariners are still
undefeated with Clase in the lineup.
He certainly hss helped the Mariners
if mainly in attitude.

On Sunday the Mariners will play a
doubleheader in Denver. The first
game will start a little earlier. George
Kirby will start the first game followed
by Emerson Hancock. See they can
keep the game close of not keeping
the Rockies from scoring many.
The Mariners are now 10-10 on
the season. We hope to see success
this coming week. After Sunday the
Mariners face the Rangers in Texas
Tuesday thru Thursday. We will likely
see Logan Gilbert, Bryce Miller and
Castillo pitch before coming back
home. We hope to see a solid winning
record when returning to Seattle.
Go M's.

Mariners In Colorado

First of all if you hadn't heard Friday
night's game was postponed for
what was called element weather.
It was actually mixture of rain
and snow.

Collin Snider who was hit in the
left knee by a line drive early in
April is now on rehab assignment
in triple A. The same goes for Cody
Bolton who was put on the injured
list the same day. When they will
be activated by the Mariners we will
see as well.

Luis Castillo expected to start on
Saturday's game. The two teams
will play a doubleheader on Sunday.
George Kirby will pitch the opener while
Emerson Hancock expected to start
the second game as he was supposed
to start on Friday.

The Rockies park is a hitter's park
mostly because of the elevation
so may this be the place where the
Mariners start hitting more consistently.

For a team that was supposed to cut
down on strike outs they still are doing
so. Julio leads with 27 strike outs and
Jorge Polanco is behind him with 26.
Two important players at the top of the
lineup. Let's see things change in that
area. Go Mariners!

Mariners Take On Colorado

The Mariners take on the Rockies
in Colorado this weekend before
going to Texas.

The Mariners certainly looked better
against the Cincinnati Reds sweeping
the series. They are now 9-10 and tied
with LA Angels in second place a game
and a half behind the Texas Rangers.
Mariners head next week to play the
Rangers in Texas before coming back
home.

The Rockies are 4-11 and have a five
game losing streak so a good time to
play them. Emerson Hancock starts
Friday and then back up to the top
of the rotation.

Hancock will need to pitch well in
this game if he wants to stay in
Seattle. The likelihood though he
will be sent to Tacoma when
Bryan Woo is activated.

Speaking of Woo he is expected to
do a rehab assignment for Tacoma
this weekend. He probably will pitch
twice at least for the Rainers before
being reactivated.

There is a chance the Mariners could
go with a six man rotation in some
manner though would want to have
the top four pitch in the way they have.

The Mariners bullpen is doing well
right now so going to a seven man
relieving group would probably not
happen. Matt Brash should be returning
in the next couple weeks so someone
will have to sent down.

The Mariners currently have 33 players
on the 40-man roster so they could
activate both Woo and Brash without
having to release anyone. All they
need to do is send two pitchers down
to the minor leagues. They have four
other pitchers on the injured list which
would not cause anything to the forty
man roster. They would have one spot
open. Go Mariners!

Mariners Minor Leaguers Report

First thing came out on Sport
Illustrated fan site that the
Mariners number #1 pick from
last year Colt Emerson went on
the injured list with an oblique
injury. He could be out a few
weeks or months. Colt was
batting .318 at the time in
Modesto.

The Tacoma Rainers are playing well.
They are on a three game winning
streak. They have a two game lead
with a 13-4 record. They are 7-2 at
home and 6-2 on the road.

Most every player is batting well.
Both catchers are at .300 or above.
Could see one of them promoted
to Seattle. Current backup catcher
for the Mariners Seby Zavala is still
has no hits and his catching not
as good as we expected.

Ryan Bliss who was one of the last
to be sent down and in the 11 to 20
range of Mariners prospects is now
batting .230 after a poor start. Let
you who else may do well on our next
update.

Double A Arkansas Travelers are now.7-4
and in second place. Mariners #1 prospect
is hitting .277. Harry Ford is still struggling
at .132. First baseman Tyler Locklear is
hitting .300 with two home runs in ten games.

Next time up on the minor leaguers we
will look at Everett and Modesto who
has the Mariners most top prospects.

The Mariners will.start series Friday
at Colorado with Emerson Hancock.
Bryan Woo is expected to start this
weekend with Tacoma on a rehab
assignment. Go M's!

Mariners Sweep Reds

Great news the Seattle Mariners
swept the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday
afternoon at home 5-1.

Bryce Miller pitched a marvelous
game going six innings. He gave
up one run in the second inning.
A homer and the only hit given up
by the Mariners all day. On the
post game Bryce said he didn't
feel very well which makes this
even more special.

Trent Thornton kept the door shut
in the seventh follow by Gabe Speier
in the eighth and Austin Voth to finish
the game. The relievers didn't give
up a walk either. Only Miller walked
a batter.

What helped the Mariners in the
series was lead off hitter Jonathan
India went hitless in the series in
12 at bats. He struck 7 times as
well..

Cal Raleigh hit a home in the bottom
of the second. Mitch Garver hit a
home run in the 6th and a third one
in the 7th by Josh Rojas. They were
all solo home runs.

Jonatan Clase who walked scored
on a Mitch Haniger single after stealing
second base . Haniger scored the final run a Cal Raleigh walk with bases loaded.
Clase who has a lot of speed scored
easily though the ball wasn't hit
deeply to left field.

The Mariners have three games starting
with Emerson Hancock on Friday at
Colorado. Luis Castillo will start on
Saturday and George Kirby on Sunday.

Julio Rodriguez had a couple doubles
on the day though wasn't able to score.
We hope this get him going and the
offense at the same time. Go Mariners.

Mariners Take Game Two

The Seattle Mariners took the
second game of the three
game against the Reds on
Tuesday night.

This makes official the first
series win for them on the
season. The Mariners are
now 8-10.

Final Mariners 3 Reds 1

Logan Gilbert went six and
two-thirds innings giving up
one run and three hits. Andre
Munoz came in the seventh
and pitched the eighth as well.

Just like Paul Sewald did most
of his time with the Mariners
Munoz comes in when the
strength of the opposing team
is up to the plate. This could
change when Matt Brash returns.

Ryne Stanek started the 9th and
looked good to begin however
ended loading the bases with
two outs. They brought in Tayler
Saucedo to save the game.

Julio Rodriguez had his second
game of the season having two
hits however it was his defense
that saved the game likely. In
the seventh inning Julio went
high in the air to catch a ball that
would have been a double or triple.
With two outs on a single he threw
out Elly De La Cruz at third base.
Josh Rojas made the tag before
Jake Fraley touched home plate.
Julio caught the fly out to end the
game.

The Mariners scored a run in three
straight innings in the 4th through
the six inning. Rookie Jonatan Clase
hit a double to drive in Mitch Garver.
In the 5th inning Garver walked with
the bases loaded. In the 6th Mitch
Haniger hit a single to drive in JP
Crawford.

Though it would have been nice to
see the Mariners have more opportunity
to score this does starting to look like
the team we hope for coming out of
spring training.

The Mariners finish the series Wednesday
afternoon. Bryce Miller will start the game.
The Mariners have Thursday off to head
to Colorado to face the Rockies on Friday.
Go M's!

Mariners Offense Comes Alive

Monday night the Mariners had there
best offensive night of the season.

J P Crawford opened the first inning
with a walk followed by a single.l
Very good stsrt Jorge Polanco hit a
home run to make 3-0.
r
In the third inning Julio got on base again.
He was followed by a Mitch Haniger
home run to make it a 5-0 lead. They
did feel comfortable however the
Mariners added four more runs
later on
 Final was M's  9 Reds 3

We hope this spring the Mariners on.
The Mariners getting someone
on base than a home now is what we
like.

George Kirby was able to bounce
back after two bad games. Kirby
pitch six innings giving up five hits
and two runs. He didn't walk which
is good too.

All the hitters got at least one hit
JP Crawford. This included rookie
 Jonathan Clase made his major
bit.  We hope this will fuel  them
the rest of the season.

Logan Gilbert will Tuesday night. We
hope another great outing..Dominic
Canzone did go on the injured list.

Go M's.

Seahawks Continue To Add To Offensive Line

In recent weeks the Seahawks have
signed offensive lineman for depth.
There is a good chance they will
draft a lineman in the first round
at #16 or trade down to add picks as
well. It will depend whether they believe
the player will still be there when they
pick.

Most of the signings added depth to
the offensive line. The Seahawks were
#30 in rushing so they want a real
physical line. Last week they signed
former San Francisco 49er and New
York Jets Laken Tomlinson. He is
penciled in as the starting left guard
for now. The rest of the singings
were for backup roles. They hope
this group will be better than what
they had before.

The Seahawks draft an offensive lineman
in the first or second round one of the
backups will be let go.

The Seahawks will look to add to the
defensive line as well. As much as they
had trouble running the ball they had
same trouble stopping the run

The Seahawks signed a couple inside
linebackers to replace Jordyn Brooks
and Bobby Wagner they will likely draft
one as well. On the defensive they may
draft an edge rusher as well. Any other picks will be best player available although
these are the spots most in need.
Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose Another Tough Series

Sunday final Cubs 3 Mariners 2

Luis Castillo made the step toward.
to bring what the Mariners expected
and needed. He went six innings
giving up the three runs. Only two
were earned. He had a throwing
error.

The Mariners bullpen continued
doing an excellent job. In three
innings gave up only one hit.

Again  the offense stumbled.
The two runs were on a homer
Jorge Polanco who is starting
to hit now.  Had only five hits
on the day.

Mariners couldn't make the
crucial hit to win the game.
A must if you are behind in
a one run game. In the 8th
inning the Mariners were
able to load the bases on
three walks. Mitch Haniger
struck out before Polanco
walked.

Ty France was elevated back
into the top four in the batting
however has struggled a bit.
Ty ended the inning by hitting
a grounder into a double play.
It would have been nice for
another walk or even a sacrifice
fly to even the score.

The 9th inning Cal had a single
with  two outs. Surprise Julio
who didn't start for the first time
came and pinch run for Cal. I
thought he may pinch hit instead.
The unthinkable Julio was picked
off. The call was overturned after
he was called out. End of game.

In the second inning Dominic Canzone
was hurt crashing into left field wall.
He will be out for a month or two.
Word out is #10 prospect Jonathan
Clase is expected to take Canzone
spot. A switch hitting outfielder
Class is hitting .311 at triple A
Tacoma.

Now the  Mariners take on the
Cincinnati in a three game series.
The Reds are 9-6 tied third with the
Cubs. Now we hope this is the
begin of a turnsround. Go Mariners

Cubs Even Series

Emerson Hancock bounced back
to pitch well going six innings while
giving up two runs on four hits.

The Cubs scored a run off of
Hancock in the second inning
and a home run in the 3rd.
The Mariners got their only run
in the second to have a temporary
tie. Luis Urias hit a double which
Mitch Haniger scored.  Urias and
Polanco were restranted.

The Mariners were only able to
get one hit in nine opportunities
in scoring position.

Troy Miller in second appearance
after being called gave up a home
run in one inning. Austin Voth pitched
the last two innings giving up a home
run..On the positive note all three
pitchers didn't give a walk

Luis Castillo starts Sunday. We hope
he can overcome the miskes he
has made. The Mariners need him
to be the stopper. The MA need to
the hitters score like four runs
a game. Go Mariners.

Miller and Mariners Win Series Opener

Bryce Miller pitched his straight
outstanding game in row. Bryce
went six and one-third innings
giving up three hits and three
walks. Gave up a run in the
seventh before leaving with one
out. The run wasn't earned. He
struck out four batters and
threw 100 pitches.

Bryce Miller is now 2-1 with
an era of 1.96. The final
score was 4-2 Mariners.
Thornton came in to finish
off the seventh. Andre Munoz
pitch the eighth striking out
two of the hitters he faced.
Ryne Stanek pitched the 9th.
He gave up a home run however
was able to perserve the victory.

The Mariners scored their runs
in the 2nd and the 4th innings
all with two outs. This was
something they had trouble
doing last season so improvement
for sure. In the 2nd inning Luis
Urias was hit by a pitch with the
bases loaded and Mitch Haniger.

In the 4th inning Julio hit a single
with bases load driving in Mitch
Garver and Dylan Moore. JP
Crawford scored the final run
on a hit by Ty France.

Most of the Mariners lineup is
still hitting under .200 however
still made the six hits on the
day count. Ty France leads with
an average of .333 and Mitch
Haniger is at .261. Julio Rodriguez
was the next one up who played in
the game at .200.

Winning a series especially a three
game helps by winning the first one.
Emerson Hancock starts Saturday
night. We hope he can turn things
around after giving up eight runs
in his last start.
Go Mariners!

Seahawks Friday

This week the Seahawks had off season
workout. They are preparing for the NFL draft which will start in 13 days.

The first day will be first round only.
The Seahawks have the 16th pick overall.
There is a good chance they could slide down to add more picks. A lot may depend
who they like on the board and they think
will still be there. General manager
John Schneider is known for sliding
down.

The Seahawks could surprise us by
going up as well. I am sure the fans
would like to have Huskies qb Michael
Penix or another quarterback.

The Seahawks have Sam Howell as
the second quarterback on the team.
Whether he is the right fit in the future
we will find out. The Seahawks could
use depth on the front line and at
inside linebacker. At some point the
defensive line and edge rusher all
depending who is available.

The Seahawks will likely go for the best
player available regardless of position.
We hope the Seahawks can make the
playoffs this coming season however
is that realistic.

The Seahawks have added some depth
to the offensive like. If the first pick an offensive lineman is their best choice they will go for it. Former WSU Cougar Abe
Lucas with injuries the Seahawks may
want to shore up the right tackle spot.
The right guard spot is open as well.
The Seahawks could move Lucas there
and put in someone else at right tackle.
The most likely that would happen be
selecting a tackle with the first or
second pick.

The Washington Huskies are in their
spring camp right now.  The question mark
is the offensive line as all last years
starters are gone.  Newcomer Will Rogers
is the starting quarterback. Running
back sophomore Tyrone Rogers was
suspended again. Too bad he showed
talent last season. The Huskies do
have depth at running back.

The Huskies spring game will be on
May 3 so we will get some insight
on how they look.

The Mariners start Friday a three game
series with the Chicsgo Cubs at home.
Bryce Miller will start the game.

That's it for now.

This Week Look At Mariners Prospects

We are going to look at the Mariners
top prospects beginning with each
team.

The Tacoma Rainer's are on top of the
Pacific Coast League with 8-3 record

The Arkansas Travelers have only played
five games since started last Friday.
They are 1-4 so not good start.

High Level Single A Everett Aqua Sox
have same record at 1-4

Low level A Modesto Nuts are 3-2
and second place in California League.

Cole Young and Harry Ford the Mariners
top two prospects are at double A.
Cole is hitting .286 with three RBIs and no home runs yet. Harry has gotten off slow
having no hits in 11 at bats. See how he progresses.

Colt Emerson Mariners number one pick
and third top prospect is at Modesto.
Colt  has gotten off to a good start with .318 average after five games and has
two home runs. First home run was on
his first swing of the season.

Lazaro Montes outfielder and number
four prospect is hitting .350 with one
home run. He has a similar personality
of Julio Rodriguez.

Shortstop Felnin Celsten is at Arizona
Rookie league since Emerson is at
Modesto. Most likely he will move to
Modesto when Emerson moves to
Everett. No stats on him as of yet.
Celsten is Mariners number five
prospect out of Dominican Republic
where he played last year.

#6 prospect is outfielder Jonny Farmelo
another top draft pick last year. He is at
Modesto as well. As you can see many
of their top prospects are playing at
Modesto. He is currently hitting .227
however has two home runs out of his
five hits.

Number seven prospect Tai Peete another top pick last year is listed at shortstop
as well and playing at Modesto. The
Mariners are staffed with a lot of
midinfielders among top prospects.
Tai  has gotten off to a slow start
batting .188. We see how he does
throughout the season.

Number eight prospect is Tyler
Locklear a first baseman who
hss played third as well. Tyler
currently hitting .300 though
no home runs as of yet. Depending
on how things go on the big club
and he continues to hit well we
could be on the big club later in
the season. Tyler is currently
is at double A Arkansas.

Number nine is Michael Arroyo who
is an infielder at Modesto hitting
.300. He has struck out seven times
in five games but walked six times.
With the other infielders they have
coming up would be surprised if
he will be a super utility player for
the Mariners unless he is traded
since they have mostly infielders
in their top ten list.

Number ten prospect is Jonatan
Clase who is outfielder. He is
playing triple A this year after
double A last season. Clase is
a switch hitter and steals a lot
of bases along with some power
as he had 20 home runs last year.

Missed a few games with injury
however Clase back with the Rainers.
Currently hitting .333;with one home
run and one stolen base. The Mariners
have to call up an outfielder it will
be either Clase or Cade Marlowe.

The Mariners top pitching prospect
and currently starting at number
five in the rotation is Emerson Hancock
he is listed at number 11. The next
pitcher is #13 Michael Morales. He is
a right handed starter at Everett. Morales
started one game going five innings
without giving up a run.

Next time on the prospects we will
look at some others from 12 thru 20.
Go Mariners!

Thank You Cal Raleigh

The Mariners  still have a long season
ahead of them. Cal Raleigh  is one of
the clutch hitters  the Mariners  have.

Mariners  6  Blue Jays  1

Player of  the Game  Cal Raleigh
Two-run homer with Luke Raley
pinch running for Mitch Garver
in the top of 10th.

Pitcher of the game was Logan
Gilbert  helped stop the bleeding
by going 7 and 2/3 innings. Only
walked one batter and 8 k's.
His only mistake was giving up
a home run to Vladimir Guerrero
Jr. in the 7th inning.

JP singled in the lone run in
the 3rd inning with Dylan Moore
crossing. Dylan has been one of
good players so far. He started
in left field.

Andre Munoz came in the 8th
with two outs. Struggled some
in the 9th however Jorge Polanco
caught the  ball in short right field
to save the Mariners from losing.

Ty France drove in the 3rd run in
the 10th  inning with Canzone
walking  after pinch hitting for
Luis Urias.  France hitting  well
is batting  third while Polanco
is struggling at the  plate.

Reliever Stanek walked one in
the 10th however struck out
two of the three outs.

Now have a three game series
at home over the weekend.
Go Mariners!

Kirby Struggles Again

The Mariners  continue having trouble
at the top of the rotation as they are
at the top of the lineup.

Final Toronto  5 Seattle  3

George  Kirby  gave up three runs in the
third inning then two more in the 4th.
His body language including rolling his
eyes showed why he had to be taken
out of the game.

The Mariners  top players need to be
focused.

The bottom  of  the  order seems
to being do the most work.

Dominic Canzone hit a home run
in the seventh inning and Mitch
Haniger  a two-run homer with
Julio Rodriguez.  That was it
for the most part. Had six hits
on the night.

See if they break out on Wednesday.
Sounds like they need a day off again.

Tuesday, April 9, 2024

Luis Castillo Struggles Again

Luis Castillo continues to have trouble
giving up runs. At least this time
only two in an inning.  He went five
innings giving up four runs.

Castillo gave up a run in the second,
two in the third and one again in the
fourth. He gave up nine hits in the
process. We hope this is his last hickup
for a little while.

The Mariners brought up two relievers
after Sundays game. Both pitched in
the game to save the rest of the bullpen.

Troy Miller one of the two went two innings
after Castillo. He didn't give up a hit and
struck out two. It would be nice if he is
another good find. The other was Brett
de Gaus who pitched the bottom of
the 8th. He did give up a run on two
hits. They both were recalled from
triple A Tacoma.

Collins Snider who was hit in the
left knee Sunday went on the 15
day injured list. Cody Bolton another
reliever was put on the same injured
list. Not sure what his issue was.

Ty Adcock though at Tacoma was
designated for assignment. The
Mariners needed a spot for either
Milker or de Gaus. Though I like
Adcock  the Mariners didn't have
many choices . I hope he passes
through waivers.

Ty Frances was back from paternity
leave after his wife had a son. I am
sure Ty looks forward to his return
to Seattle. Ty had the most productive
game having three hits on the day
though Mariners couldn't take advantage
in the 5-2 loss.

The Mariners two runs were homers solo home runs by JP Crawford in the 8th and
Cal Raleigh in the 9th.

In all the Mariners had seven hits. Dominic
Canzone had two hits so he is starting to
heat up besides Ty's three hits and the
two homers.

George Kirby starts Tuesday. We hope
to see a rebound from him and a
Mariners win. Go team!

Hancock and Mariners Blown Out

The Mariners are now 4-6 after being
blown out  by Milwaukee.  Three
tough series  for the Mariners.

Emerson Hancock had  a tough
day only able to go three and a
third inning.  We have to see
whether we can still stick it
out or sent to triple-A.

Emerson gave up 11 hits and that
is a lot even if he six innings alone
going the fourth along with 8 runs.
Obviously  the Brewers  we able
to hit off him solid as he only had
one walk. Emerson  was able to
strike out six. We hope he learns
and Bryan  Woo  will be back soon.

Though the Mariners  hitting hasn't
been good the pitching the starting
pitching hasn't  either. Collin Snider
who came in gave up two runs without
an out. The first part he was hit in the
left knee and had to leave the game.
He is listed day to day however the
Mariners will bring someone up to
the taxi squad in case Snider has
to be added to the injured list.

Tayler Saucedo came in for Snider.
He walked the first batter however
after that  he didn't  give up a hit
in two  and two-thirds  innings.
Tayler basically  saved the bullpen.

Final Milwaukee  12 Seattle  4

The had a run in both the first
two innings. Polanco  is starting
to hit as he drove in Julio. Rojas
drove in Dylan Moore in the second.
When the game decided Dominic
Canzone hit a long two-run homer
in the upper deck. He is going be
an important part  of  the  Mariners
if he figures it all out.

Luis  Castillo takes the mound
Monday at Toronto. The team
needs him to turn things around.
Go M's!

Mariners End Three Game Losing Streak

The main reason the Mariners end
losing streak on Saturday evening
Bryce Miller pitched a fantastic
game most of the way through.

Bryce pitched seven innings giving up three hits and not allowing a run. Allowing one walk while striking out seven. The Mariners
led 3-0 at the end of seven. Jorge Polanco
fortunately added a run in the top of the
eighth to allow Bryce to get the win.

In the 8th inning Austin Both had his first
bad outing coming out of the bullpen.
He gave up 3 runs including a home
run to the Brewers within one and was
to get only one out. Gabe Speier was
able to get an out however he had
control trouble like Munoz had though
gave up two walks. Thornton came
in to stop by getting the third out
without anymore damage.

The Mariners decided to go with
Andre Munoz for the second straight
night in the 9th inning. This time
he was able to take care of the
Brewers with three straight outs.

The 8the inning Luis Urias hit a
solo home run to make it a two run
lead hitting into the 9th.

Final Seattle 5 Milwaukee 3

Sunday Emerson Hancock makes his
second start of the season. He got
off to good start though had some
struggle though the Mariners had
that win as the only win against
Cleveland. Hopefully do well and
the Mariners can win.the series
and go to Toronto even at 5-5.

Julio and Haniger each got two
hits on the night. Facing a lefty
Dylan Moore started at first base
while Samad Taylor made his first
start in left and Urias at third. All
three got hits in the game.

The Mariners face a right hander
so Raley should be at first and
Canzone in left field and Josh
Rojas at third. May see Moore,
Urias and Taylor sometime in
the game.

The Mariners hitting is starting
to come around which is a good
thing. The Mariners scored in
three different innings. It would be
nice if they can add another inning
into it along with better pitching.
Don't expect to see Munoz be in
there tomorrow. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Third In A Row

The Mariners had opportunity to win however let the opportunity slide.
It would have been a come from
behind win though.

For the third game in a row it was
more on the pitching. Logan Gilbert
was only able to go five and two-thirds
innings. He gave up four runs on
three home runs.

Final Milwaukee 6 Mariners 5

The Mariners scored three runs in
the top of the sixth inning by the
top of the order. Haniger, Garver
and Raleigh each had hits to drive
in the three runs. This tied the game
before Gilbert gave up his home run
before existing the game.

The bottom of the order this time
did the job by scoring two runs to
tie. The Mariners had a single by
both Dylan Moore pinch hitting
followed by Samad Taylor who
had his first hit as a Mariner. He
pinch hit earlier for Canzone.
Urias hit a double which went
over the fence so only Dylan
scored. Taylor would have scored
otherwise. Julio hit a grounder
to shortstop scoring Taylor for
the tie.

Things looked good for the Mariners
since Munoz came in the bottom of
the ninth and look like possibility
the game would go into extra innings.
The unfortunate thing is Munoz
walked four batters in a row for the
Brewers to win. Munoz had only
walked two in a row before.

Bryce Miller starts Saturday so we
hope he can turn the fortune of the
pitching around and this would
continue the hitting to start going.

The Mariners are now 3-5 and in
third place two and a half behind
the Rangers and one and  a half
behind the surprised Angels.

The Red Sox who split with the
Mariners in the opening series
are now 6-2 and tied with the
Yankees in the American League
East. The Detroit Tigers lead the
central 6-1 followed by Cleveland
6-2.

In the National League East the
Atlanta Braves lead with 4-2
record. Only team in their division
with s winning record. Miami
Marlins are 0-8 at the bottom
so makes the Mariners look a
lot better.

The Brewers who the Mariners
are playing leads the NL central
with 5-1 record. Maybe the
Mariners can change by winning
the last two of the series.
Interesting though the Brewers
have scored the least runs in the
central.

Not surprising the LA Dodgers
lead the NL West at 7-3. Arizona
is second at 4-4.

Ty France Is Out

Ty France  is not hurt however Mrs. France
went into labor. Ty is probably  going to
miss the road  trip  as he takes paternity
leave as the Mariners expected.

The Mariners  brought  up infielder/outfielder
Samad  Taylor  to take his spot on the roster
while is being  a  new dad. Friday's game
Luke Raley will start at first base.

When the Mariners  face a lefty most likely
Dylan Moore  will be at first base where
he has played before among all the positions
besides catcher.

We might see Samad play left field against
a lefty as well.  He can play all over the field
too. Samad might be the fastest guy on the
team so he could pinch run In a crucial spot
late in the game. Manager Scott Servais may
want to get Samad's feet wet so to speak as
soon as possible.

The Mariners  play Friday  through Sunday
in Milwaukee then onto Toronto  to take on
the Blue Jays  before returning home to
take on the Chicago Cubs next Friday.

Logan Gilbert starts Friday night followed
by Bryce Miller on Saturday and Emerson
Hancock on Sunday. Go M's.

Washington Huskies Football Open Spring Camp

Wednesday at 5 pm the Washington
Huskies had their first spring camp
day. It didn't look like last years when
the positions were full for the most
part.

The offensive line has no returning
starters. Those who have been here
before were backups and young. Coach
Jedd Fisch figures may have to go
through the transfer portal.

The wide receivers are good though not
like last year's however they were the
best the Huskies have had as a tandem.

The running backs will be good as well.
The question though will the offensive line
be able to block as they should.

The quarterback Will Rogers a transfer
from Mississippi will be the starter
however who will be number two.
Desmond Williams Jr and Demarcus
Davis both freshman will be fighting
it out.

On defense the Huskies had to bring
in four transfers to build with last
years seniors and graduate students
gone. Linebacker is the strongest
returning unit though they brought
in a transfer for backup and depth.
In future posts we will look at the
different units.

The Washington State Cougars began
camp as well though earlier than the
Huskies beginning last Tuesday.

Though the Cougars and Oregon State
are the remaining two schools of the
Pac-12 they will play each other along
with their state rivals Washington and
Oregon. They will play next season
mainly Mountain West schools.

Amazing not having a schedule
like before the Cougars do have
37 players returning from last
years team. They will have a new
quarterback though. They were
fortunate to have head coach Jake
Dickert returning to.

Any news coming up with the
Huskies and Cougars basketball
we will let you know to as they
both have new coaches. The Huskies
do have one transfer guard on the
team already however they will need
more as their starting lineup are
no longer college eligible either
graduating or were in graduate school.
The Cougars in about the same boat
but several players went into the transfer
portal.

This will be an interesting off season
for both football and basketball
programs at  both schools.

Tacoma Rainier's Thursday

The Mariners have Thursday off
so we are looking at the first games
of the Tacoma Rainier's.

The Rainier's currently have a 3-2
record and in Salt Lake City playing
the Bees.

The Rainers are like the Mariners
where most of their players are
hitting under .200. Outfielder Nick
Solak leads with .300 while Jonathan
Clase is .286 and Cade Marlow
at .263.  Marlowe leads with four
steals and four RBIs. He has no
home runs and the Rainiers have
only three total.

Next Mariners day off we will.look
to see how the top prospects are
doing. The double A team and single

Cleveland Took Series From Marinerd

The Mariners looked like they
would win the series against
Cleveland after game one but
it didn't. Not only did Castillo
lose Tuesday so did Kirby
on Wednesday afternoon.
What could go wrong did go
wrong.

Final Cleveland 8 Seattle 0

Kirby gave up all eight runs
although six were earned. He
didn't quite make four innings
instead had two outs in the
4th when he was taken out.

Austin Voth went two and a
third innings giving up no hits
or runs. Trent Thornton went
two innings giving up one hit
and no runs. Both these guys
have gotten off to good starts
on the season. The bats couldn't
find a way to score having only
five hits.

The 9th inning they had 3rd
baseman Josh Rojas pitch
and he gave up no hits or runs.
In my opinion if you bring in
a fielder to pitch the 9th they
should just end it.

JP Crawford collided in the
game with second baseman
Jorge Polanco. He didn't
leave the game at the time.
When it looked like there was
any chance to win the Mariners
decided to rest Crawford. Dylan
Moore who started in left field
move to shortstop.

The Mariners are on the road
beginning on Friday against
the Mariners. We hope Logan
Gilbert can stop the  bleeding.
Go M's.

Luis Castillo and Mariners Lose Middle Game

The Mariners still struggling at the
plate and Luis Castillo having one
bad inning.

The Mariners had nine hits on the
night however only produced two
runs. Hopefully we can see them
rebound with George Kirby on the
mound.

It has been a rough start for Luis Castillo
having now his second loss on the
season. He reminds me of Robbie Ray
two years ago when he had at least
one bad inning per start until he got
things right. He gave up three runs
in the fourth inning. One more in the fifth.
He made it through six innings.

The Cleveland Guardians are doing
what the Mariners hope to do this
season by hitting you to death. They
had 12 hits on the night with only one
home run and two doubles. The
Mariners had their two runs in the
seventh inning.

New it would be tough to win this
game with Shane Bieber on the
mound. Bieber went six innings
of shutout ball. The Mariners
had opportunities however were
unable to bring runners across
the plate.

Josh Rojas continues to hit well
at the plate getting a hit and an
RBI to drive in Cal Raleigh who had
two hits on the night. Ty France
scored on an RBI by JP Crawford
though not on a hit. Currently JP
is struggling badly on the season
at .083.  France continues to look
like his old self.

Now we hope to see George Kirby
pitch like in his opening game
once again and win the series.
The Mariners have Thursday off
and then have a three game series
starting Friday in Milwaukee.

The Mariners picked up two pitchers
who will be in Tacoma. They signed
veteran lefty Dallas Keuchel to a minor
league contract to add depth in
starting pitching. He spent most of his
career with Houston Astros. They
acquired lefty reliever Sammy Peralta
off waivers from the White Sox. Give
them depth there too.

Taylor Trammell the Mariners designated
for assignment at the end of training
camp since he was out of options
is now a Los Angeles Dodger. He is
on their roster and be a fourth outfielder.
We wish him well.

Mariners Take Care Of Cleveland Game 1

The Mariners did enough to win
game one in a three game series.
Noe means they have a fifty fifty
chance to take two out of three.

Emerson Hancock started out
well in his first start of the season.
He did well the first two innings
showing what he is capable of.
Third inning he struggled giving
up two runs after the Mariners
scored four runs in the bottom
of the second. Three of the runs
came on a home run from Canzone.
The two runs could have been in
part he had to sit on the bench
for a little while.

Emerson looked good again
in the 4th and 5th then went
into the sixth. The thought was
he would only go five. He gave
up a run in the sixth before
leaving with one out. The run
might not happened however
Julio misjudged and the ball
went off his glove into stands
for a homer.

Tayler Saucedo came in following
Hancock to get the final two outs.
Fellow lefty Gabe Speier pitched
the seventh. He gave up one hit
but struck out two. Andre Munoz
pitched the 8th primary because
it was the middle of the batting
order for Guardians. He gave up
a home run to Josh Naylor..

Ryne Stanek pitched the 9th
against the bottom of Guardians
order. After the struggle against
the Red Sox he was able to get
through getting all three outs.
Recorded his first save of the
season. Hancock was able to
have the win.

Luis Castillo will start game two
and we will see if he recover from
his last outing in the opener. It
won't be easy since he has to start
against Shane Bieber who won his
first game going six innings and
shutting out Oakland.

The Mariners still in second place
being half game behind the Rangers
while a half game behind the Angels.
Go Mariners!

Mariners and Red Sox Split series.

The Red Sox beat the Mariners 5-1
on Sunday for a split on the series.
A split is OK in a four game series
though taking three would have been
nice.

Bryce Miller went five innings. He
gave up a three run homer in the 4th
inning. The difference in the game.

Luis Castillo and Miller will have
to step up their game in their next
start. The offense will need to do
the same. Sunday the Mariner
hitters struck out ten times.

Josh Rojas leads in hitting at five
 hundred however small size with
eight at bats. Mitch Haniger is next
at .286 and Ty France at .267. The
rest not so good.

Another positive note the Houston
Astros were swept by the Yankees.
The Mariners are second place.

The Mariners will begin a new series
against Cleveland on Monday. It will
be three games with Emerson Hancock
starting game one. Tuesday should be
Luis Castillo and George Kirby on
Wednesday. Have Thursday off to go
on the road.

The key will be to win two out of
three in these series. Cut down on
the strikes. Go Mariners!
