in Colorado this weekend before
going to Texas.
The Mariners certainly looked better
against the Cincinnati Reds sweeping
the series. They are now 9-10 and tied
with LA Angels in second place a game
and a half behind the Texas Rangers.
Mariners head next week to play the
Rangers in Texas before coming back
home.
The Rockies are 4-11 and have a five
game losing streak so a good time to
play them. Emerson Hancock starts
Friday and then back up to the top
of the rotation.
Hancock will need to pitch well in
this game if he wants to stay in
Seattle. The likelihood though he
will be sent to Tacoma when
Bryan Woo is activated.
Speaking of Woo he is expected to
do a rehab assignment for Tacoma
this weekend. He probably will pitch
twice at least for the Rainers before
being reactivated.
There is a chance the Mariners could
go with a six man rotation in some
manner though would want to have
the top four pitch in the way they have.
The Mariners bullpen is doing well
right now so going to a seven man
relieving group would probably not
happen. Matt Brash should be returning
in the next couple weeks so someone
will have to sent down.
The Mariners currently have 33 players
on the 40-man roster so they could
activate both Woo and Brash without
having to release anyone. All they
need to do is send two pitchers down
to the minor leagues. They have four
other pitchers on the injured list which
would not cause anything to the forty
man roster. They would have one spot
open. Go Mariners!
