Luis Castillo made the step toward.
to bring what the Mariners expected
and needed. He went six innings
giving up the three runs. Only two
were earned. He had a throwing
error.
The Mariners bullpen continued
doing an excellent job. In three
innings gave up only one hit.
Again the offense stumbled.
The two runs were on a homer
Jorge Polanco who is starting
to hit now. Had only five hits
on the day.
Mariners couldn't make the
crucial hit to win the game.
A must if you are behind in
a one run game. In the 8th
inning the Mariners were
able to load the bases on
three walks. Mitch Haniger
struck out before Polanco
walked.
Ty France was elevated back
into the top four in the batting
however has struggled a bit.
Ty ended the inning by hitting
a grounder into a double play.
It would have been nice for
another walk or even a sacrifice
fly to even the score.
The 9th inning Cal had a single
with two outs. Surprise Julio
who didn't start for the first time
came and pinch run for Cal. I
thought he may pinch hit instead.
The unthinkable Julio was picked
off. The call was overturned after
he was called out. End of game.
In the second inning Dominic Canzone
was hurt crashing into left field wall.
He will be out for a month or two.
Word out is #10 prospect Jonathan
Clase is expected to take Canzone
spot. A switch hitting outfielder
Class is hitting .311 at triple A
Tacoma.
Now the Mariners take on the
Cincinnati in a three game series.
The Reds are 9-6 tied third with the
Cubs. Now we hope this is the
begin of a turnsround. Go Mariners
