win his first game of 2024 before this.
Saturday evening in what was supposed
to be the second game in Denver instead
the first one of the series instead.
M The game did have some snow flurries
however they wanted to get the game in.
Luis had his four seam fastball working
as he threw about 65% of his pitches
with it.
Luis was able to go seven innings with
a comfortable lead. He gave up two
hits while walking one and striking.out
nine. The batters that were not a walk,
two hits and nine hits were five groundouts
and five fly outs to even it. We hope to
see more of this version of Luis the rest
of the season. He nows is 1-4.
The final score was Mariners winning
7-0. The Mariners scored single runs
in the second, third, fourth innings then
had four in the fifth.
The Mariners first run in the second
was on a Cal Raleigh home run. The
only home run of the game which is
a good sign. The Mariners were back
to their basics. Cal Raleigh had four
hits on the night and drove in another
one as well as scoring a second run.
The great thing in this game was Julio
had four hits as well. He scored a run
on one of Cal's hits and drove in two
runs. He had two stolen bases. We hope
this is the beginning of the real Julio.
Ty France had two hits and scored a
run. It was nice to see him get some
hits after a short slump.
Jonatan Clase had two runs batted in
the fifth inning. The Mariners are still
undefeated with Clase in the lineup.
He certainly hss helped the Mariners
if mainly in attitude.
On Sunday the Mariners will play a
doubleheader in Denver. The first
game will start a little earlier. George
Kirby will start the first game followed
by Emerson Hancock. See they can
keep the game close of not keeping
the Rockies from scoring many.
The Mariners are now 10-10 on
the season. We hope to see success
this coming week. After Sunday the
Mariners face the Rangers in Texas
Tuesday thru Thursday. We will likely
see Logan Gilbert, Bryce Miller and
Castillo pitch before coming back
home. We hope to see a solid winning
record when returning to Seattle.
Go M's.
