second game of the three
game against the Reds on
Tuesday night.
This makes official the first
series win for them on the
season. The Mariners are
now 8-10.
Final Mariners 3 Reds 1
Logan Gilbert went six and
two-thirds innings giving up
one run and three hits. Andre
Munoz came in the seventh
and pitched the eighth as well.
Just like Paul Sewald did most
of his time with the Mariners
Munoz comes in when the
strength of the opposing team
is up to the plate. This could
change when Matt Brash returns.
Ryne Stanek started the 9th and
looked good to begin however
ended loading the bases with
two outs. They brought in Tayler
Saucedo to save the game.
Julio Rodriguez had his second
game of the season having two
hits however it was his defense
that saved the game likely. In
the seventh inning Julio went
high in the air to catch a ball that
would have been a double or triple.
With two outs on a single he threw
out Elly De La Cruz at third base.
Josh Rojas made the tag before
Jake Fraley touched home plate.
Julio caught the fly out to end the
game.
The Mariners scored a run in three
straight innings in the 4th through
the six inning. Rookie Jonatan Clase
hit a double to drive in Mitch Garver.
In the 5th inning Garver walked with
the bases loaded. In the 6th Mitch
Haniger hit a single to drive in JP
Crawford.
Though it would have been nice to
see the Mariners have more opportunity
to score this does starting to look like
the team we hope for coming out of
spring training.
The Mariners finish the series Wednesday
afternoon. Bryce Miller will start the game.
The Mariners have Thursday off to head
to Colorado to face the Rockies on Friday.
Go M's!
