Luis Castillo and Mariners Lose Middle Game

The Mariners still struggling at the
plate and Luis Castillo having one
bad inning.

The Mariners had nine hits on the
night however only produced two
runs. Hopefully we can see them
rebound with George Kirby on the
mound.

It has been a rough start for Luis Castillo
having now his second loss on the
season. He reminds me of Robbie Ray
two years ago when he had at least
one bad inning per start until he got
things right. He gave up three runs
in the fourth inning. One more in the fifth.
He made it through six innings.

The Cleveland Guardians are doing
what the Mariners hope to do this
season by hitting you to death. They
had 12 hits on the night with only one
home run and two doubles. The
Mariners had their two runs in the
seventh inning.

New it would be tough to win this
game with Shane Bieber on the
mound. Bieber went six innings
of shutout ball. The Mariners
had opportunities however were
unable to bring runners across
the plate.

Josh Rojas continues to hit well
at the plate getting a hit and an
RBI to drive in Cal Raleigh who had
two hits on the night. Ty France
scored on an RBI by JP Crawford
though not on a hit. Currently JP
is struggling badly on the season
at .083.  France continues to look
like his old self.

Now we hope to see George Kirby
pitch like in his opening game
once again and win the series.
The Mariners have Thursday off
and then have a three game series
starting Friday in Milwaukee.

The Mariners picked up two pitchers
who will be in Tacoma. They signed
veteran lefty Dallas Keuchel to a minor
league contract to add depth in
starting pitching. He spent most of his
career with Houston Astros. They
acquired lefty reliever Sammy Peralta
off waivers from the White Sox. Give
them depth there too.

Taylor Trammell the Mariners designated
for assignment at the end of training
camp since he was out of options
is now a Los Angeles Dodger. He is
on their roster and be a fourth outfielder.
We wish him well.
