had their first win the West Coast
Conference Saturday night beating
Portland on the road 89-73.
The Cougars led most of the way.
They outscored Portland 51-30
in the first half. Pretty much relaxed
after a 12-0 run in the second half.
The Cougars had five players score
in double figures. They were led by
Ethan Price with 22 points and he second in rebounds with 7. Former
Husky Nate Calmese had 18.
The Cougars will be without Isaiah
Watts for sometime as he injured
his left hand. Injuries to the Cougars
means they have eight healthy
scholarship players. This will be the
rotation pretty much until Watts gets
back. The Cougars can't afford another
injury among them.
The Cougars next game will be at
home against Loyola Marymount
Monday night. LMU lost their first
gsme Saturday to San Francisco
in WCC 70-55. Their overall record
is 8-5.
Gonzaga starts their WCC season
Monday night at Pepperdine. They
lost to UCLA Saturday 65-62. The
game was pretty tight with Sebastian
Mack making a three point play with
33 seconds in the game. The Zags
had only two players score in double
figures. Graham Ike led with 24 points
and Ryan Nembhard had 16 points.
The Zags made only 7 of 24 in 3point
shots and outshot at the free throw
line by five. Go Zags!
