the Cougars would lose the
holiday bowl. Syracuse 52 WSU 35
The Cougars did have the lead in
the first quarter. The Cougars scored
first than Syracuse scored two TDs
then Kyle Williams playing his last
college touchdown for 66 yards
to tie at 14-14. The Cougars were
able to block a punt for a touchdown
to put them in the lead for the last
time 21-14 in the first quarter. The
Orangemen dominated the second
quarter having three TDs so lead
at halftime 35-21.
The Cougars made it interesting
scoring a TD with 2:06 left in 3rd
quarter. Unfortunately Syracuse
scored 1:19 in the 3rd. The Orange
kicked a field goal and a TD in the
4th quarter. The Cougars had a
touchdown with nine seconds
remaining in the game. So made
it a little better.
The Cougars lost linebacker Taariq
Al-Uqdah to the Huskies. A good
thing for Washington who needed
linebackers as well as defensive
lineman because of eligibility used
up.
The Huskies will be in the Sun Bowl
on the 31st. The Cougars begin the
West Coast Conference in men's basketball Saturday night at Portland.
The Huskies have final non league
game in men's basketball Sunday
afternoon against NJIT. Begin
Big Ten schedule next Thursday
against Maryland.
Both the Huskies and Cougars men's
teams have done well. It would be
nice along with Gonzaga to make the
NCAA tournament in March. Go teams.
Look forward to a good college
basketball season in Washington.
