Huskies Lose Conference Opener

The Washington Huskies lost
to the UCLA Bruins 69-58 on
Tuesday night. Both teams
known to each other historically
anyway though the Huskies
have a new coach and a lot
of new players.

The Huskies have been playing
well so far and ended a five
game winning streak. The Huskies
haven't done well at Pauley
Pavilion the home of the Bruins.
A good excuse the Bruins have
had some very good teams.

The Bruins this year after beating
the Huskies are 7-1 while  Washington
is 6-2. Both teams hope to continue
having good season and make it
into the NCAA tournament in March.
It has been a while for the Huskies.
Under new head coach Danny Sprinkle
the Huskies hope to make it a regular
occurence. State of Washington have
had some good plsyers coming out
of high school so if they can get
some of them along with recruiting
nationally and internationally can
make it consistent to NCAA tournament.

The Huskies have two in state
players on the team this year.
Zoom Diallo freshman is
from Tacoma. He started coming
off the bench however his play
he is a starter. At guard he played
25 minutes, eight points, seven
rebounds and three assists. The
other is redshirt freshman Chris
King from Seattle. In recent games
his time has increased. He may
become part of the regular rotation.
Against UCLA he played 11minutes
had three points and two rebounds.
Currently Great Osobor the Huskies
best player who had 14 points and
nine rebounds to lead the team
and returner Wilhelm Breidenbach
who had nine points and four rebounds
are the only front court players getting
playing time so important to have
King to get more minutes especially
if one of them gets in foul trouble.

Tyler Harris who right now  is the
Huskies second best player behind
Osobor was the only other one in
double figures in this game. He
had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
It is important they get others
to score more points.

One big difference in this game was
the Huskies shot 38.8 from the
field and made 3 of 16 in 3-pointers.
The Bruins made five more 3s
and shot at 38.1%. The difference
in the game. Good sign the Huskies
shot 70.1% from the foul line which
is better than they done on the
season so far.

The Bruins had three players who
scored in double figures another
reason for the win. Tyler Bilodeau
and Sebastian Mack coming off
the bench had 16 points each. Dylan
Andrews had 12. Bilodeau led the
Bruins with 9 rebounds.

The Huskies play USC on Saturday.
They take on Oregon Wednesday night.
The Ducks are 7-1 while the Trojans
are 5-3. See how the Trojans do first.
They play Oregon at home before
coming to Seattle for Saturday's
game.

The Huskies play UCLA, USC and
Oregon twice in conference while
the other opponents just once.
Much different than Pac-12 where
playing each team twice.

After playing the Trojans on Saturday
the Huskies play their three instate
rivals. Begin with Eastern Washington
next Tuesday followed by the Apple
Cup against the Cougars on December
18 and Seattle University on December
23. All three games are at Washington.
We see how they do in the next four
games. Go Dawgs!
