have lost game two in a series and now
they have snapped a series winning
streak at nine. Now they will have to
start a new one. It won't be easy since
they face the NY Yankees on Monday.
Sunday the Mariners will avoid a sweep.
They have done well against the Blue
Jays in recent years. Saturday they lost
6-3.
Logan Evans started out well. He didn't
give up a run until the fifth inning when
he gave up two. The Mariners had already
scored their three runs so had the lead still.
Evans gave up another run in the sixth
then left the game without getting an out.
A youngster like Evans my opinion they
should have taken him out after the fifth
since he had the lead. I know they don't
want to over use the bullpen. Like using
Bryan Woo last season they had to use
an extra reliever in his starts.
George Kirby Saturday night did another
rehab assignment in Tacoma. Kirby went
three and struck out five. We know when
he is ready to be activated Evans will be
sent back to Tacoma.
Carlos Vargas who pitched the eighth
inning for the Mariners gave up the
final three runs for the Blue Jays. He
has pitched well in relief however the
eighth inning doesn't seem to be the
spot. The Mariners don't really have
someone to pitch the eighth in except
maybe lefty Gabe Speier. In fact he
came in the sixth inning followed by
Matt Brash in the seventh who could
have pitched the eighth inning. Next
time have Vargas come in the sixth
where he has been more successful.
Bryce Miller starts Sunday for the
Mariners. As of late he is another
one whose innings need to be
watched. Hopefully we will see
a victory. Go M's.
