Washington State Cougars Football For 2026

The Washington State  Cougars and
the Oregon State Beavers are the
only remaining schools in the new
Pac-12 Conference.  How both schools
do this coming season will give national
recognition or not.

Jimmy Rogers who was the Cougars
head coach moved on during the
off-season to Iowa State. The Cougars
lost 37 players to the transfer portal
with many going to Iowa State.  The
Cougars hired Missouri offensive
coordinator Kirby Moore who was
born and raised in Washington.

The Cougars have 28 players transferred
in to help replace those who left. The
Cougars have four starters who came in
the transfer portal along with four on
second string on offense. The big change
is on defense where eight starters on the
depth chart and seven second string at
this point.  The Cougars offense has
always had a better reputation than
the defense. With so much change on
the defense side will that show an
improvement. We will see won't we.

The head coaching change the Cougars
have only 14 incoming freshmen. At
this point none of them are listed  on
the first three strings. It will be interesting
to see how that effects them the next
few years. Of those 28 transfers in
only four on offense and four on defense
are starters so in another year the Cougars
mostly likely won't have to deal with as many
to come in. Of course it will depend on how
good the team is in 2026.  The Cougars
have seven in special teams with four as
regulars. Go Cougars.
