.Mariners Beat Up on Tigers

The Seattle Mariners bounced back
Friday night after the very disappointing
loss on Thursday beating the Tigers
12 to 3 in Detroit. It is always good to
win the first game of a series.

Be great if the Mariners can take at
least one more game in the series.
It would have been nice to save
some runs for tomorrow.

Cal Raleigh had two more home
runs in the game including a
grand slam in the ninth inning.
The Mariners scored seven runs
to put the game out of hand in
the ninth. Cal now has 38 home
runs on the season and one
behind Barry Bonds for the
most home runs before the
all-star break. Two more by
Sunday he will have the record
before the all-star break.

Luis Castillo pitched into the
sixth inning however left
before getting any outs and
surrended two of his three
runs.  The bullpen didn't
give up a hit in four innings.

Before the game Julio Rodriguez
announced he will not play in
the all-star game and instead
will rest up for the second half
of the season. Seattle outfielder
Randy Arozarena will take his spot.

George Kirby will start Saturday day
game for the Mariners against
the Tigers all-star pitcher Casey
Mize. This should be a good
outing on both sides.

Sunday will be the major league
draft. The Mariners have the
number three pick. Should be
a very good choice. The Mariners
are likely going to pick a college
pitcher. Who it will be we will
have to see. Go M's.

Yankees Sweep Mariners

Going into the 8th inning it looked like
Mariners would win easily then things
fell apart in an unusual way.

Heading into the seventh inning the
Mariners had scored two runs then
Jorge Polanco hit a three run homer
to put the Mariners up 5-0.

Starter Bryan Woo pitched an awesome
game going into the 8th inning. He
walked the first two batters he faced
in the game then no other batters
reached base. He was  pitching a
no hitter into the 8th. Woo had never
pitched into the 8th. He ended up giving
up a single to the leadoff hitter. The next
hitter got a base hit too and a sacrifice
fly scoring the Yankees first run.

The Mariners brought in Matt Brash.
He recorded the next batter out then
Brash gave up a two run homer to
make it 5-3. The Mariners batters
went one, two and three outs in
the 9th. Andre Munoz pitched the
9th for the Mariners. Things still
looked  good however he gave up
two runs to tie.

Game goes into extra innings.
The Mariners couldn't bring in the
runner from second in the 10th
however the Yankees did on a
sacrifice fly by Aaron Judge.
I would say the .ost disappointing
loss of the season.

Now the Mariners go play the
Tigers in Detroit. We hope they
can recover. Go M's.

Yankees Beat Mariners Again

Wednesday night the Mariners lost to
the New York Yankees again. We hope
they don't get swept on Thursday.
Coming into the series the Yankees
were struggling while the Mariners
were swept the Pirates.

My belief is the Mariners have trouble
with a team like the Yankees for their
talent and being World champions for
many years. It will be interesting if the
same happens against the Dodgers.

Final Yankees 9 Mariners 6

The Yankees scored three runs in the
first inning with small ball.  JP Crawford
hit a home run in the third inning for
the Mariners.  Jazz Chisholm Jr.
hit first of two home runs in the
bottom of the third. Jorge Polanco
hit a solo home run in the top of
the 4th to make it interesting.

The Yankees scored two runs in bottom
of the fifth. Arozarena hit a home run
in the sixth however the Yankees scored
three in the bottom of the sixth. Cole
Young hit a two run homer in the seventh
for his first major league home run.

Logan Evans was the starter. He went four
and two -thirds giving up six runs. This
was his first outing at Yankee Stadium.
Carlos Vargas who has done a surprising
job as a rookie reliever was his 42nd
appearance. I believe the Mariners have to
watch his appearances since a lot at this
point. They need to acquire another reliever.

Trent Thornton who has had an up and
down season pitched the final two
innings and not surrendering a run.
Go M's.

Yankees Beat Up Mariners Tuesday Night

The first game of the series between the
Mariners and Yankees started out with
light rain. The game got delayed in the
top of the fifth inning with two outs
and the score 0-0. Neither team was
much up to that point. The Mariners
only scored two runs in their previous
two games against the Pirates and
fortunately won both since the pitching
didn't give a run in that series.

The game was delayed for about an
hour before action returned. Logan
Gilbert was back on the mound when
the Yankees came up. JP Crawford
made the third out for the Mariners.

Gilbert gave up one run in the bottom of
the fifth. In the sixth inning he struggled
more and gave up four runs with three
on a home run to Giancarlo Stanton.
Gilbert left with one out.  This questions
whether a starter should return after
a rain delay in the fifth inning. I am sure
Gilbert wanted to continue however
maybe Manager Dan Wilson should have
made another decision and put someone
else in.

Casey Legunmina who came in for Gilbert
didn't fair any better. He gave up two home
runs including a two-run homer in the sixth.
He gave up a total of five runs. Rookie
Juan Burgos making only his second
appearance since being recalled from
triple A finished the game going one and
two-thirds innings. He gave just one hit and
struck out two.

The Mariners did get three runs in the
eighth inning. The highlight was Cal
Raleigh hitting a two run homer for
his 36th home run breaking Ken Griffey
Jr. record for the Mariners before the
the all-star break. Congratulations on
Cal continue doing it. We now hope the
Mariners can score more runs in New
York. Go M's.

Mariners Report Card for 2025 Halfway

The Seattle Mariners season is a little
over halfway though they consider the
all-star game as the halfway mark.

I give the Mariners a grade of B- since
are over the 500 mark. Going 5-2 in
the last home stand helped. Now they
play against the Yankees in New York
for three followed by the Detroit Tigers
for three. The Tigers have the best record
while the Yankees have struggled lately.
The surprise is the Toronto Blue Jays
are in first of the American League East.
The likelihood is both the Yankees and
the Mariners will be in the playoffs even
if they don't win their divisions.

The pitching I give the  grade of Bt.
Injuries to the starting rotation is the
reason for the Bt. We hope for an A
after the all-star break. Both Emerson
Hancock and Logan breakEvans have been
a good help while Kirby, Gilbert and
Miller had been out. Miller should be
back shortly after the all-star break.
He is going to start a rehab assignment
with the Tacoma Rainiers.

It is nice that Bryan Woo who has had an
excellent first half will be on the all-star
team as well as reliever and closer Andre
Munoz who matches Woo in performance.

I give the Mariners a C for the offense.
This mainly for the first half that catcher
Cal Raleigh has had. He gets an A plus
for the best hitting a catcher has had in
the history of baseball in the first half.
Fans nationally recognized it and voted
to start in the all-star game and be in the
home run derby. He leads the majors in
home runs and rbis.

Julio Rodriguez is going to be on the
all-star team as well mainly for his defense.
We hope he gets hot now. I give him a Ct
because  of his defense.

The Mariners offense got off to hot start
however fizzled  in May except Cal of
course. Both Jorge Polanco and Dylan Moore
had a good start however May on they
haven't been recognized. Randy Arozarena
has headed up on the last home stand
Luke Raley is now back after being hurt
for about six weeks. He will play both
first base and right field. Play center field
when Julio needs a day off. Dominic Canzone
had done well since he came up from
triple A. We hope he continues his good play.
Donovan Solano who didn't get off to a good
start has hit well recently. We hope more from
him in the second half.

The Mariners brought up Williamson early
to play third base and Colt Young came up
in June to take over at second. Both have
done well as rookies. We hope more steady
in the second half. They have played good
defense and find in the bottom of the
batting order.

Now we will see if the Mariners can pull
off a trade for a bat who can help when
the others offense is flat. Another reliever
would be nice too. Go M's.

Seahawks Monday

Fall camp is about to start this
coming weekend.

The big question mark is the offense.
It isn't the new quarterback or the
offensive line really it is the new
scheme. How well will the players
handle it.

I expect the passing game will be ok
though we may not see as much passing
because of the scheme. We hope for
more success though in the passing
game everything will be alright. The
question still be can the offensive line
block for the running game. We will
find out.

The most important is the center position.
It is one the starter could change on the
Seahawks too. Olu Oluwatini is listed on
the first team at center however training
camp will show if he actually does start.
If he doesn't start there could be other
changes may happen to. Along with other
things we willet you know.

The three preseason games won't let
us know who the starters will be outside
of some positions since we won't see
the starters much at all in preseason.
Personally I think they should start
game three even if it is only one series.
Let you know how things go. Go Hawks!

Mariners Sweep Pirates

The Seattle Mariners had a good homestand
going 5-2. Not only did they sweep the
Pirates they shutout them out all three games. On top that coming into this series
the Pirates had shut out the St. Louis
Cardinal three times. This the first time
in major league baseball a baseball team
shutout another team in a series and
turn around get shut out themselves.

The score Sunday was the same as
Saturday with the Mariners getting
one run.  The Mariners got their run
on a home run by Randy Arozarena
in the bottom of sixth inning. Paul
Skenes the Pirates outstanding starting
pitcher left after the seventh inning.
He gave up only five hits to the Mariners
while striking out ten without a walk.

George Kirby the  Mariners starter almost
matched up Skenes. He went six and
one-thirds inning giving up four hits. He
left after giving up a hit in the seventh.
He struck out nine batters.

The Mariners have Monday off then
play three games against the Yankees
in New York. Next weekend they take
on the Detroit Tigers. Neither of those
teams will be easy to beat however
we hope the pitching continues.

During the game it was announced that
the Mariners will have three other players
going to the all-star game besides Cal
Raleigh who is having the best season
so far than any catcher has ever had in
baseball season. Starter Bryan Woo having
a great season as well as reliever Andre Munoz which isn't a surprise and outfielder
Julio Rodriguez who is a surprise.

The Mariners are now 48-42 and still seven
games behind the Houston Astros who
have been playing very well. The Texas Rangers are third three games behind
the Mariners. The LA Angels are a game
behind them. The Athletics are struggling
at their new home ball park in Sacramento.
They are seven games behind the Angels.

We hope the Mariners can pull off a trade
to pick up at least one bat before the
trade deadline at the end of July. Sooner
in my mind that is.  Go M's.

Mariners Offense Struggles Again
