could have been eliminated from
the playoffs however they won in
ten innings 6-5. This gives them
another day.
The odds are against the Mariners
to get in the playoffs but for now
they are still alive.
George Kirby started and he has done
well in his career against the Astros
so a good one to have on the mound.
The first two innings George looked
good however in the top of 3rd the
Astros scored four runs including
a home run. Not a good sign since
the Mariners have had trouble scoring
runs.
It didn't take them long though in
the bottom of the 3rd Dominic Canzone
who has had a very good season hit
a single scoring two runs. Julio
Rodriguez hit a double to score a
third run. So they were down by a run.
In the bottom of the 5th hit another
single driving in Randy Arozarena
to tie at 4-4. In the 9th inning Taylor
Ward pinch hit for Laz Montes against
the Astros closer John Hader who
is having an outstanding season.
Taylor had a single to keep it alive.
Unfortunately he got picked off
first base. A big mistake for sure.
Michael Arroyo who had pinch hit
earlier was able to walk but was
stranded.
George Kirby went five and the
bullpen did a good job. In the
top of the 10th the Astros hit
a triple when Ward dived for the
ball. Cooper Criswell did a good
not allowing the runner to score
to make it down by one.
In the bottom of the 10th Hader
was still out there. Arozarena,
and Cal Raleigh both walked
to load the bases. Julio did a
good job not chasing any pitches
end up walking to bring in the
tying run. Josh Naylor was able
to take a tough inside pitch to
drive in the winning run.
Now the Mariners play final four
games against the Angels beginning
Thursday at home. They struggled
recently against the Angels on the
road but now have to win all four
games. The Astros and the Rangers
who are tied with one to win the.
division both have to lose all four
game as well so the odds are really
against the Mariners. The division
has had all teams struggle this season.
The winner could have a losing record
going into the playoffs..
Bryan Woo will start Thursday evening
for the Mariners. He has pitched well
recently. So go one game at a time.
Go M's.
