The Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels Thursday night 11-10. It was a crazy game where the Mariners had a lead of 10-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. In fact, the Mariners scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning or they would have lost the game.
The Angels scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. They tied the game in the eighth inning, however, Jay Bruce hit a single in the top of the ninth inning going the other way from the shift. I don't understand why teams put on the shift with runners on base. I am glad though Bruce was willing to go the other way.
Ryon Healy had an outstanding game at the plate hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. Also, catcher Omar Narvaez had a good night as well having three hits including a three-run homer in the seventh inning. He drove in four runs total.
Felix Hernandez pitched well going six innings. He should have received the win if the Mariners bullpen didn't do their job. Angels had two home runs after Felix left the game.
The Mariners likely will bring someone up for a place in the bullpen. Triple-A Tacoma their bullpen hasn't been doing very well lately. Let you know how that goes for sure.
Marco Gonzales goes Friday night for the Mariners. We will see if he can get his fifth win of the season against the Angels. Go M's.
