Mariners Going For Sweep

The Seattle Mariners are now going for the sweep against the Los Angeles Angels Sunday afternoon after beating them 6-5. The position players wanted the game bad so Yusei Kikuchi could have his first major league win. It wasn't his best performance but now he is 1-1.

Kikuchi went five innings giving up four runs on ten hits. The Mariners had for relievers closing out the game. Anthony Swarzak recording his third save of the season gave up a solo home run to Albert Pujols.

Mitch Haniger led off the game with a home run. The Mariners scored two runs in the first inning having Daniel Vogelbach hitting a home run as well. In the fourth inning, Dee Gordon had the one-thousandth hit of his career. He drove in two runs with the hit.

The Mariners scored their final two runs on home runs by Edwin Encarnacion in the fifth inning and Domingo Santana in the 7th inning to round out the scoring.

Mike Leake will take the mound Sunday afternoon to see the Mariners can sweep the Angels. The Mariners are a full game ahead of the Houston Astros after they lost to the Texas Rangers 9-4 Saturday night.

The Mariners will have Monday off then play the Padres in San Diego on Tuesday and Wednesday. Erik Swanson and Felix Hernandez are scheduled to pitch in both those games. Go M's.
