The Seattle Mariners were hoping to end their losing streak with a win Monday night over the Cleveland Indians, however, it didn't happen. They did extend their streak of hitting at least one home run in a game. Edwin Encarnacion and Omar Narvaez hit back to back home runs in the eighth inning to narrow the lead to 5-4. The Indians added another run in the ninth inning because of throwing errors by shortstop Tim Beckham who has been having problems in the field at times.
Kikuchi was able to go six innings though his fastball wasn't able to get over the plate on a regular basis. He walked three batters in the process. The Mariners bullpen along with questionable calls on strikes by the home plate umpire once again didn't help matters either. The relievers had trouble walking four batters over three innings.
Now we hope Tuesday the Mariners bats can come back alive and end this losing streak of four games. It would be nice to get back on another winning streak whether it is two or three games even.
Mike Leake will take the mound Tuesday night. We hope he can bounce back from a terrible outing last time. On Wednesday afternoon Erik Swanson will make his first start in the major leagues for the Mariners. He takes the spot of Wade LeBlanc who might be out for a month.
In other news, Russell Wilson announced early in the morning that he and the Seattle Seahawks did come to an agreement so he will be around until at least 2023. He will become the highest paid player in the NFL for now anyway.
Now that this is over we can get on with baseball. Go M's.
