I guess you could say it was good the Mariners didn't have a game scheduled in Chicago for Friday because on Wednesday it was announced that Thursday's game was moved to Friday because of rain forecasted for Thursday. We just hope that rain doesn't stay around for Friday.
Yusei Kikuchi is still scheduled to pitch now on Friday instead of Thursday for the Mariners. I am not sure whether I like the game canceled or not. Having a game moved to Friday an off day originally is a good thing?
Having two days off so early in the season seems so odd anyway but if there is rain than we could say it is good. Another thing Edwin Encarnacion was taken out before Tuesday's game started so it will help that he has an extra day to get healthy.
I am sure there are those wondering why Daniel Vogelbach isn't playing more baseball? I figure the Mariners are wanting to give Encarnacion and Jay Bruce enough at-bats where one of them can be traded sooner than later. Right now Encarnacion is batting .238 with one home run but he could get hot any time. Bruce is hitting only .179 but does have three home runs. Vogelbach will get his chance if and when one of those two gets traded or is not hitting their weight. Bruce will play in the outfield on occasion to give Domingo Santana, Mitch Haniger, or Mallex Smith a day off. He already played once giving Smith a day off since he didn't have a lot of spring training time.
I get amazed where the local sports radio shows spent a lot of time talking about the Seahawks. I know there are those who care only about football and what to listen about the Seahawks all the time but this is baseball season. I feel sorry for those who don't appreciate baseball or basketball or soccer for that matter. When I tune in and they are talking football I change the channel. I know they don't need to talk a lot about baseball but some about the Mariners would be nice though I know enough about the team that I don't really need to listen I could say the same about football. It must be the entertaining value I guess?
Speaking of football the question is right now Russell Wilson wants to sign a new contract and has set a date of April 15. Please Seahawks do it now so I don't have to hear any more about for the next eleven days. It will be interesting to see who the Seahawks draft this year. I am sure they trade down to get additional draft picks. Right now they have like four. Next year they have eleven so they could trade some of them to add this year.
College football the Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars will be having spring practice and the spring game will be at the end of the month. Both teams will be going with new quarterbacks. It will be interesting to see who ends up getting the job.
Anyway be back with baseball only tomorrow unless something big breaks tomorrow.
