Mariners Split Series with Angels

The Seattle Mariners split the series with
the Los Angeles Angels winning the final
two games with the same identical score
2-1.

Sunday's game went extra innings. Kyle
Lewis scored both the Mariner runs. He
hit a home run in the seventh inning then
the Angels tied the game in the bottom
of the seventh.

Lewis was placed on second base as the
batter to be up under the new rule for
extra innings. Tim Lopes hit him in to
win the game.

Marco Gonzales pitched a great game
going all the way giving up one run. The
only blemish was a home run to Justin
Upton in the second inning. The Mariners
tied the game in the top of the third with
Jake Fraley hitting a triple followed by
catcher Joe Odom's single.

It will be interesting with the trade of
Austin Nola to the San Diego Padres
in the seven player trade who will get
the bulk of the catching duty.

Jose Marmolejos hit a solo home run
in the sixth inning for the Mariners to
win.

News came out during the game closer
Taylor Williams was traded to the San
Diego for a player to be named later.
Who will take over the role is anyone's
guess right now.

The Mariners were to play a three game
series against the Oakland A's starting
Tuesday, however, one of the A's players
tested positive for the Corona Virus so
the first two games are postponed. The
two teams are expected to play on Thursday.
Not sure right now whether it will be a
double-header or not.

The Mariners do end the season against
the A's in Oakland so could make up
any games then as well.

The Mariners record is now 15-22 and
they are now back in third place of the
American League West. The Oakland A's
still lead the division being eight and a half
ahead of the Mariners.

With the trades  with the San Diego Padres
we will see other players on the roster when
they play on Thursday. The most recent call
up for the bullpen is Seth Frankoff who was
on the alternate training site.
