Mariners Lose Tuesday Night

It was important for the Mariners to win
Tuesday night to have any real chance to
make the playoffs. The Houston Astros
beat the Mariners 6-1 the same score
the Mariners won on Monday.

News came out before Tuesday night's
game Dylan Moore was placed on the
seven day concussion injured list after
being hit in the head for the second
time in a week.. With only five games
now remaining means Moore's season
 is over.

Far as position players go Moore has had
the second best season on the Mariners
behind rookie of the year candidate Kyle
Lewis. Moore is second in home runs
and first in steals.

Dylan Moore began the season like he
did ending last year being a utility player.
Since the Mariners had only two legitimate
outfielders he had the opportunity to play
a lot and took full advantage of it. Next
season he should be a regular in the lineup
most likely at second base.

Rookie Ljay Newsome made his fourth
start and his last of the season. Newsome
went four and a third innings giving up a
run in the first inning. The Mariners tied
in the bottom of the inning for the only
run of the game.

JP Crawford and Kyle Seager who have
each been in a slump in September were
the only players to have two hits in the game.
Seager drove in Crawford for the single run.

The Astros won the game in the six inning
when they hit two home runs off of reliever
Casey Sadler. The second home run of the
inning was the big killer giving up a three
run shot to catcher Martin Maldonado who
has been a Mariner killer this season.

The Mariners play a late afternoon game
Wednesday to finish the season against
the Astros. Nick Margevicius will make
his final start. He has struggled for the
most part having an ERA of 5..35 in six
starts.

Most likely Margevicius won't be in the
starting rotation next year. He started the
season in the bullpen then was inserted
in the rotation when Kendall Graveman
went on the injured list after his second
start of the year.

It will be important to Margevicius and
the Mariners he have a good finish. Go M's.
