Seattle Seahawks and Mariners Both Win

The Seattle Seahawks won their opening game of
the season Sunday over the Falcons in Atlanta 38-25.

The Falcons scored first with a field goal then
Chris Carson scored two touchdowns by the pass
to take a 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Falcons scored a touchdown but missed the
extra point in the second quarter along with a
field goal for the Seahawks to lead at half time
14-12.

The Seahawks scored two touchdowns in the
3rd quarter the first by DK Metcalf with a
38 yard pass from Wilson. The second was a
seven yard pass to Greg Olsen also from Wilson.
The Seahawks led 28-12 at the end of the 3rd
quarter.

In the fourth quarter the Seahawks scored first with
a field goal followed the Falcons with a touchdown
but were not able to convert a two-point conversion
making it 38-18. The game was pretty much over
when the Falcons scored again with three minutes
and twelve seconds remaining in the game.

The Seahawks offense looked like they were in
mid-season form while the defense looked like
bend don't break as the Falcons threw for 434 yards.
Tyler Lockett led the Seahawks in receptions with
eight though no touchdowns. Russell Wilson threw
for 322 going 31 for 35. The Seahawks ran for 84
yards. Much of the passing game looked like running
the ball for the  most part outside of Metcalf's touchdown.
The reason Russell didn't complete four passes on the
day.

The Seahawks will be home next Sunday Night at home
against the New England Patriots who won 21-13 over
the Miami Dolphins at home. The Patriots scored a
touchdown in the second, third and forth quarters.
See now whether the Seahawks will be able to beat
the Patriots to go 2-0 before facing the Cowboys at
home the following Sunday.

The Seattle Mariners beat the Arizona Diamondbacks
Sunday afternoon 7-3 same identical score as Saturday
to take the series 2-1. The Mariners will take on the
Oakland A's in a doubleheader starting at 2 pm on
Monday to  make up for the two of the three games
cancelled two weeks ago. Manager Scott Servais did
mention about the air quality but we hope it won't
cancel the two games.

Justin Dunn started the game for the Mariners but
had control problems walking five batters so he
lasted only two innings though giving up only one
run. He did strike out five batters as well. Dunn had
thrown 66 pitches in the two innings so new his  time
would be short.

Casey Sadler recently acquired by the Mariners came
in for Dunn. He went for two innings giving up no
runs on one hit while striking out three batters. The
Mariners used five other relievers on the day.

Donovan Walton started at shortstop was the offense
hero of the day driving in three of the Mariner  seven
runs. He had one of the three doubles the Mariners
had on the  day. It was his first hit of the season in
limited action. JP Crawford is expected back on
Monday.

Marco Gonzales is expected to start game one
against the A's. Both games are expected to go
seven innings. Since the Mariners will be going
primarily with the bullpen as the second game
starter hasn't been announced as of yet expect
Gonzales to go  most of game one.

The Mariners are now a game and a half behind
the struggling Houston Astros who have gone
2-8 in their last ten games while the Mariners
are 7-3. The Mariners play the Astros in another
week at home. Depending on how they do against
the A's, the Giants and Padres at home this week
the series against the Astros at home could put
the Mariners into position to make the playoffs.
The  Mariners have a record of 21-25 right now.
Go M's.
